MaxAir,Skyhawk, and Power Tower. . . .

I think Skyhawk is absolutely one of the most underrated rides in the park based on its consistently short waits. I was there yesterday and today and rode 5-6 times. Easily my favorite of the three. I like MaxAir, but it's not as thrilling when you're not going just straight back and forth and don't get the airtime every swing.

Sky Hawk is at the back of the park, Maxx Air near the front. Hence the difference in lines

And another factor to consider is that Skyhawk is only 1 minute long while Maxair is 3 minutes.

Sky Hawk is tricky to find (referring to people who don't visit the park frequently) while MaxAir is right there in everyones' faces.

Good point Thabto and Coasterkyle. I never thought of those things. I cannot imagine the average guest having trouble finding Skyhawk. They give out park maps at the front gate and all over the park? As far as ride performance, MaXair provides more Thrill to me than Skyhawk.

I love them both, though on my one visit this year I shied away from MaXair with its lovely revolutions. I took on a few coasters, but didn't care to see what would happen to my perpetual vertigo riding spinny rides.

Though the park gives out maps, I have had people come up to me countless number of times asking me where rides are. For some reason MF is the one I hear the most.

Skyhawk is my favorite flat ride in the park. I'm fine with the lines being shorter. :)

^^ Just because you have a map doesn't mean that it's easy to follow or that you know how to follow it..

In my opinion, Power Tower is the best. Yes, every park has a drop tower, but the sheer terror of being held up so high with nothing beneath my feet and nothing to look forward to but a freefall (or a downward thrust in PTs case) is a feeling that never gets old.

The one time I rode MaxAir it made me nauseous, it must be my age. I love Skyhawk and I don't get queasy. I preferred Demon Drop to Power Tower, the drop was definitely more thrilling and felt, although it is unnerving being up that high and dangling but it isn't as long as Windseeker, which I don't care to ride again.

SkyHawk probably would get a lot more exposure / ridership if it were over by Millennium Force / Rougarou. The park could definitely use a flat ride over there. You often see people waiting in that part of the park with nothing to do (other than a few games).

Love all 3. Power Tower's Shot side is way more fun than the drop side.

Here's why,

Drop towers are supposed to accelerate all the way to the brakes, Power Tower does not do this. It starts off with the initial drop moment, gains speed and then stops accelerating. Any Intiman drop tower keeps gaining speed all the way to the brakes.

Kinda like this

Either way, it's a bunch of fun.

That is because the down side on Power Tower is not a drop tower, it is a controlled descent that is never a free fall. True drop towers (like the Intamin version) have a free fall to the brakes. Demon Drop was a true free fall ride even though it curved into the brakes.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Ture that Pete, still fun but like you said, not a true Drop Tower.

Would drop tower at Kings Island be considered a drop tower?

Drop Tower at Kings Island is of the INTAMIN Drop Tower series that Pete was referring to. It lifts you to the top, holds you, and then releases you into free fall until the (magnetic?) brakes.
