Maxair Question on Size

Before I begin I tried the search function and it didn't come up with anything, so if there is a thread already dealing with this issue could someone just show me.
Anyways, I was just curious if anyone else has had the same problem i have. I am 6'5 and about 180 and everytime i get on maxair the ride ops tighten the restraint pretty tight, but then as the ride begins it seems the restraint tightens quite a bit more on its own. Being a tall guy it always crushes my shoulders. Anyone else have this problem?
I was just curious to know if I'm the only one or if there are others out there like me.

The search doesn't work. Use google and add site:www.pointbuzz.com before your search criteria.

That said, I have noticed that. The seats on there are not the most comfortable in the world.

I've had the exact same experience on Maxair

Yes, it is a part of the safety system, I believe. Something with the air pressure causes the restraints to tighten before the ride cycle starts.

I'm not sure of the exact technical process but it has something to do with the air being released from the locking mechanism. It's the same thing at the end of the night when the ride is turned off. The air releases and the harnesses that are up fall down under their own weight.

This makes it really nice when we have to pull them all down at the end of the night. There would only be a few on the gondola that we would have to pull down ourselves. Most of them had already closed themselves, basically.

I hear people all day long complain about how heavy the harnesses are when in reality they aren't as heavy as they appear. I've seen full grown adults struggle to pull their own harness down, yet at the end of the night when the ride is off, the harnesses that haven't fallen on their own only require us to push with a finger and they fall all the way down.

I'm sure there are a few people on here that can give technical details on how all this works.

As far as the whole shoulders thing, can't really help you much there. The only thing I would suggest would be to try and slouch down a little.

Me two. Oops too. No wait. Its to.

I know the TL from last year could give you a good explanation, and I knew about as much as Greg knew. One thing though, if you don't mind losing a little bit of the ride experience would be to kind of push against the restraint with your shoulders as the air is releasing, and then you have to do that on the way down every time as well. I usually forget during the ride though, so I usually end up getting crushed halfway through the ride. After all the cycles though, I've learned to deal with it. *** Edited 9/9/2006 12:27:46 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Hey maXairan Mike...thanks for the intro..lol

Anyways, the harness are extremely heavy. It takes a lot of air preassure to hold them open for the guest to get in the seats easier, however, the problem with that is it is very difficult to pull them down as well.
Greg pretty much hit it dead on.
When Ride Start is pressed, all the air releases from all places on the ride (Brakes, Floor, and Harnesses). The air preassure doesn't actually push the restraints tighter, its just that they are so heavy they come down on the rider a little more.

As for the end of the night thing, that was discoverd one morning accidentaly. I wanted the crew to clean all the seats, so i turned the ride on, had them open all the harnesss, and I was going to turn the ride off and go help them (cause you can't leave the ride on with nobody in the control booth). Well I turned the ride off thinking they would stay up, and all the air released causing them all to fall. I'm kind of glad this happened because we were struggling at the end of the night pushing down those harnesses fighting the air preassure!

Hope this helps...even thought Greg pretty much explained the same thing :-)

I've noticed that before, but I just thought I was imagining it. It's good to know that this is actually happening and I'm not going crazy.

thank you so much for the input. I will try that trick next time. I appreciate knowing i wasn't going nuts when i thought they were tightening.
