maXair's footers are three feet taller. Therefore, it is considered taller, but is the same frame as Delerium. Delerium runs faster than maXair, though 70 mph is nothing to sneeze at.
Really? That's the first time that I've heard that about the footers and the speed difference. What is the speed on Delirium? I looked at the PKI website but couldn't find the spces for ride speed. Where did you get that information? Did I miss something?
Richie A.
I'm interested as well. Huss rides are cookie cutters. They do some custom theming and such, but the ride dimensions (as with most flats) are cookie cutter.

Geewhzz, I agree that Chaos is a good flat. I can ususally get my car spinning pretty good. maXair is going to be awesome for those of you whom have not been on Delirium. It is a fantastic ride and very disorienting when you are in full swing and the Eiffel Tower is upside down.
I don't think you can count footers as making the ride taller than Delirium. Don't know about the speed factor either. Haven't heard that one. *** Edited 4/11/2005 3:13:54 PM UTC by Coasterfury***
As much as I love Chaos, Delirium has taken my number one spot for a flat ride.
Unlike Chaos, the spinning isn't dizzying. In fact, the swinging is what you feel most on Delirium, and the "airtime" at the top of the swing.
Sometimes you are almost upside down, other times you are facing head first. It's even more amazing at night.
I'm very happy to see this Huss ride at CP.
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
I think it would be cool to have the Chaos free spinning seats on maXair. That would provide one heck of a ride. I've always loved Chaos since one of my friends dragged me on it, and I am not a fan of most flat rides.

It's been done. Check this out:

The old west was never that wild. I had the last ride on Maverick!!!
Ok I read the ride specs on Deliruim and it is 137ft tall and goes 76mph meaning maXairs alittle taller but also alittle slower. btw that Excaliber ride looks wicked!

Too bad chaos at CP has gotten "dumbed down" since the MiA accident...
Hmm interesting, how was it dumbed down? What was the incident? Please do tell, I'm curious!
You arn't missing much on Xcalibur, SF:STL is my home park. I havn't been on a giant frisbee yet, but I'm sure it will be my favorite flat ride come May 7th. Xcalibur is a pretty decent flat, but it isn't a very fun ride, because the WHOLE ride you experience high positive g's, and that sort of bothers me.
I don't remember what part broke exactly, but the ride locked up while in operation and there were people suspended (some upside down I believe) for a couple hours. They stopped Timbers from running for fear that the vibrations could cause Chaos to collapse and hurt/kill people. They were all removed very carefully with a cherry picker and there were know serious injuries (although a lot of shaken nerves). I dont' know the actual technical details behind the breakdown though, Dave might know more.

I doubt there is any difference in speed or height between Delirium and MaXair, it's just the printed specs that are different with one of them being wrong.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
The center bolt that holds the chaos wheel to the arm came off and the wheel fell, landing on the cement against the arm. Two cars were pinned against the pavement, but were fortunately in a position where the riders didn't sustain life threatening injuries.

One thing to note, the accident happened shortly after Cedar Fair took ownership of the park.
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
So this accident must of happened back in the day and people are still holdin that against this ride??? As long as everyone was okay I don't see why anyone should hold grudges against this ride. Maybe if there was a death(but I don't recall any deaths at the park)
So it was during that transition period before CP's management could fully take over. The sad part is Chaos is a fun ride I wish they would install another one.
And I guess my recollection of what I had heard was COMPLETELY wrong, I didn't realize that it fell off all the way.

Wow, that's pretty disturbing. I would expect something like that to happen on a carnival/portable ride, but not on a fixed ride in an amusement park. I doubt this will affect me riding Chaos though, the ride is just too much fun.
But what I still want to know is, how was Chaos at Cedar Point "dumbed" down?
Sorry for going off topic, you can thank Dave ;) *** Edited 4/11/2005 6:47:31 PM UTC by Geewhzz***
I'm confused by this as well, as far as I can tell Chaos runs no different today than it did when it opened.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Who's holding a grudge? I never liked the ride before the incident and I don't like it now.
I don't think anything was done to "dumb down" Chaos. It's still the same old boring, nauseating, uncomfortable ride it's always been.
Richie A.
Assuming that the chaos cycles were always the same between different parks (MiA and CP namely), but the cycle of the one at Cedar Point is MUCH less intense than the MiA one was. A group of us that all worked at MiA last summer went to CP a few times and all noticed that chaos felt weak.
The only other Chaos I've been on is the one at Hershey. The ride was definately longer than CP's version, but I didn't notice a difference other than that.
