Yep. The restraint on Maverick usually ends up pressing on my thighs very painfully. I avoid the ride for that reason. I'm much happier with the freedom you have on MF or Magnum style trains (preferably without seatbelts). Inversions aren't interesting enough to me to warrant a restrictive, bulky over the shoulder harness.
Ever since Maverick opened I have ALWAYS had to place my hands on the harness at my shoulder height to avoid this from happening. This does not prevent me from enjoying the ride at all.
This tactic was applied on Storm Runner and Fahrenheit at Hershey park last month (which was my first visit to the park since the mid 70's). Anyhow, I found that this tactic was not needed on either of these rides.
I know that they always try to push hard on the harness. I put my legs up a bit so it doesnt get to tight because the harnesses always get tighter by the end of the ride! I love the harnesses on the B&M coasters like Raptor much better! Way more comfy, but I still really love my Maverick!!!
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
