I was just wondering, is it possible that not all of the footers have been poured yet?
I find myself still wondering about the 'early' construction for this ride. Logically, the only reasons I can come up with for the early construction are;
1. Themeing-not a CP standard, but could depend on the ride.
2. Testing-which seems to say some non-traditional type of ride and/or lift-launch mechanism.
3. Bigger-start building the ride now where it doesn't disrupt park operations, and then continue into zones that would (hence my thoughts on the footers).
4. No hidden reason - that this is going to be a traditional type of coaster (length, height, speed, etc...) and that financial-business reasons caused the early construction, or some other reason such as Ohio winter weather., etc...
Just wondering,

#4 seems the most logical to me. Why build in the winter if you don't have to.
/sarcasm/ Someone in planning got a raise for thinking up this one. I mean, it only took 16 coasters to figure out that winters in along Lake Erie are harsh. /end sarcasm/ ;)

Im gonna go with 2 and 4. It looks like this thing will have a LIM or LSM launch/hill. While neither or these are new tech, they maybe using some kind of updated versions which are more powerfull or efficiant and will require alot of testing.
I just think its because they could. The area is easily accessible and the ride can be largely built without impacting the park. Throw in the choice between building in a northern Ohio winter or a northern Ohio summer and your decision has been made for you.

I think 2 and 3. For some reason i still feel that this is going to be bigger than the construction area. Just from what I've seen, It doesnt look impresive to me. Not that its going to be bigger, I just think that it will. I dont think that it has anything to do with the winter time. Phase 1 is started.

I'm going to say no.2 It's going to be alot bigger than we think it is, and the midway's going to be torn up and changed around a little bit to make room. I'm going to say it's not going to be amazingly tall or fast, but it might break the length barrier. possibly 2 miles. I wouldn't doubt that.

2 miles??? Wow, man. That's, uhhh, quite a prediction you got there. The longest coaster on Earth right now is only 1.54 miles long (8133'). And, its SBNO.
There are no footers indicating this coaster will leave the site, no markings indicating additional footers will be poured outside the site and the amount of track that has been delivered seems appropriate for the amount of supports and footers already in existence.
This is not to say I wouldn't want a coaster that long, though. Its just not gonna happen in 2007.

Not yet. but it is only Aug........
I love Monkeys! I love Monkeys!
As I've said from the beginning, #4. Simple as that.
I now agree with Jeff too when he says there will be a LOT of disappointed enthusiasts when the announcement is made and this isn't some monstrous ride that breaks a million records and transforms Frontiertown as we know it. LOL!!

I'll be happy with this, not disappointed. I didn't need all that other stuff that you typed.

It did occur to me that there would be some survey markers or stakes in public view if they were going to pour more footers, so that does diminish theory #3.
Personally, I am not going to be disappointed with whatever is built. I am glad to see CP enhance that corner of the park, which should help 'spread out' the crowd.
Hopefully they announce the details soon!

I'm gonna say #'s 2 and 3, i think in the offf season the project will somehow expand a bit, out of its current boundries.
There are survey markings and posts in other areas of the parks, for example on a nd around Millenium Island and around Cedar Creek Mine Ride.

hmm... #1 would certainly be a "whole new direction" :)
I'll go with that. A majority of the ride will be enclosed and you'll be able to walk on top of the mountain they build for it.
low and twisty so the enclosure doesn't have to be so tall.
I guess there were more footers to be poured.

vwhoward's observations now opens up some other possibilites.

From the way the track looks in front of the old WWL station, I can logically guess that the WWL station will be used as either additional queue space or as a on ride photo area. The reason I bring this up here is because if you look at the way the track approaches the station, there appears to be no way for the cars to go into the station like the WWL boats did.
Well, we knew in like July or August of last season that Adena was going to be doing Skyhawk construction, and since site prep and concrete pouring was going on for this at the same time Skyhawk was being built I'd have to think that 2, 3, and 4 are all logical answers. Adena already has equipment there: less transportation costs, that can go with #4. This will use an updated LIM/LSM technology, and if it is LSM then I wouldn't doubt that the early construction is to alot some time for testing of the LSMs. There is already one ride (granted, built during the early 90s) that has proven that if the computers controlling the LSMs are off, it can ruin the ride. So that takes care of #2. As for #3, I'll just point to some of the survey markers and other markings that have been spotted. Now that we have building foundations in the area behind Frontier Inn, I'm fairly certain that it won't be there next season, as leaving it there would block the view of the station of the ride, in addition to giving some more room for queue space without it there. *** Edited 8/30/2006 3:26:55 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
