In addition, the "surprise" was a water effect. Apparently "water bombs" will explode as you dive over the pond.

There is also some news about Opening Day giveaways.

"The first 3,000 riders on Saturday, Sunday and Monday will each receive a FREE T-shirt just for being some of the first to challenge our 17th coaster!

If that weren’t enough, on Monday, May 28, the first 500 Joe Cool Club members to ride Maverick will receive a complimentary Maverick pullover fleece! Riders must show their Joe Cool Club membership at Maverick’s exit to receive a voucher, good for one free fleece. One per Joe Cool Club member only."

So water WILL be involved, just not in a get-everyone-wet sort of way... more of a "woa, sweet effect!" sort of way.

Same here, I was hoping they'd do this any day BUT Saturday. I'll have to high tail it out of the park right at 10am! :)

^ HAH yea... this was the absolute worst day for it to open for my schedule... luckily work allowed me to be late 3 hours! Its a 2 Hour drive so I will be able to stick around till 11am then I have to bolt as well. See all you Red Cross riders on Saturday! I will be in my Point Buzz shirt and Pin!

I love the new graphic on the home page with the actual photo of the ride. That's hot.

They still need to add it to the skyline in the animated banner. It does look sweet though.

I see they have a second cam up as well.

Maverick Cam!

Is that the old station cam? I wonder if the 3rd cam will be the "voted" location.

It looks like the old station cam, yes. I'm assuming that's the roof of the caboose they told us about.

It look likes this cam was in the same place when they started putting the track together, by the Train station or on top of the roof.

In the blog entry about the track replacement they had the mountings for the first person video.. when do you think it will be up on the site to watch.. just looking for an estimate.

This is some pretty great news to hear about it officially being open on Saturday.

I thought Jeff was going to film that for them? Is that still the case, Jeff? If so, when do you think we'll see it? :)

Why do we have two threads on this?..it sure is some GREAT news though..im very excited for it. how long do you think the lines will be for it though?
