Maverick NoLimits Recreation

Just wanted to say hi to everybody at PointBuzz, and make my first post here hopefully worthwhile.
In the past months I've been working on a NoLimits recreation of Maverick, and finally finished it a few days ago.

The track is available in both nlpack and regular, for those that don't want to mess around with the files and just want to ride.
If you do not have the NL Track Packager for the nlpack file and download it anyways, a link to get it is in the readme.

Please note this was made with NL1.6, using any other version is not recommended, and I don't know what will happen if you do not use NL1.6, besides some g's being incorrect and/or in the red a bit. So use a lower version of nl at your own risk.

[!] All the pov videos require DivX, which you can get at http://divx.com

Track file:
-> http://coastersurge.com/misc/Maverick_CP_NL.zip - Regular
-> http://coastersurge.com/misc/Maverick_CP_NL_NLP.zip - Nlpack

POV:
-> http://coastersurge.com/misc/Maverick_CP_NLPOV_DivX_EQ.zip - Extreme Quality (88Mb)
-> http://coastersurge.com/misc/Maverick_CP_NLPOV_DivX_HQ.zip - High Quality (79Mb)
-> http://coastersurge.com/misc/Maverick_CP_NLPOV_DivX_MQ.zip - Medium Quality (60Mb)
-> http://coastersurge.com/misc/Maverick_CP_NLPOV_DivX_LQ.zip - Low Quality (44Mb)

Also please note I am fully aware of all the little glitches/bugs, and such with the track, so there is no need to make a long post naming everything. :P

Other then that, feel free to post/comment on it. *** Edited 11/14/2006 4:08:40 AM UTC by altgamer***

Nice Job....

The lead ins and lead outs are a tad quick, and going over the lift hill was really fast, but you seem to have the basic shape down. I'm impressed.

Great job! Thank you for putting in the time and effort to do this.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I like it! You can tell you put a TON of time into this. Obviously, it's not quite as good as the official POV, but it's really well done for staying inside NL.

Someone should make a NL MeanStreak.

There IS a version of MeanStreak for NoLimits, as well as all other major coasters in the park available on coastersims.com; they have a very large collection of real, realistic, and fantasy coasters for NoLimits and 2 other RC sim programs. You have to register to download, but it's free.

And alt's Maverick is really good, I tried making a version of it too but couldn't get the 95o drop not to be bumpy. So I scrapped it. :)

I have one finished coaster myself: a 90o, 250 ft. steel giga. I might link to it if anyone is interested (note: it's not on coastersims yet, so don't look for my name there unless you wanna see the rides I've reviewed).

Good job on the land too, I can't figure out how to use the terraformer that well ... *** Edited 11/14/2006 8:56:42 PM UTC by deldelda***

The links to download the No Limits file didn't work for me :( I tried searching for coastersurge using the AOL search bar to see if I could look around the site and find the recreation by doing that. However, coastersurge doesn't even appear to be a site when I searched for it.

^ditto.

Thanks for the comments. If you're unable to download the file or if it cuts out my server was having a minor php problem (Ok, not really minor, more along the lines of major.), so I had to update that and a bunch of other things, as a result it was down for a little while.

It should be back up and running now, if you still experience problems downloading it or connecting, please pm or e-mail me your ip address, what time you last tried it if possible, and I'll look into it. (If you don't know your ip address, you can goto http://whatismyip.org to get it)

As far as not being able to search/find CoasterSurge, it's because it is a site of mine launching in 2007 so it doesn't yet exist. :P

I plan to make alot more detailed maverick recreation in 2007, including better textures, 3d models, etc. I'm still learning how to texture and everything as far as modeling goes, and that is a challenge in itself.

Now if we can get a file for RCT 2 or 3, then I'd be in heaven! LOL :)

This is really good, just a couple suggestions: The 2 corkscrews seem a little low to the ground (at least compared to the official POV), but they aren't too far off. The only part that seemed wrong was the Stengel Dive right before the last bunny hill (that goes over the canyon and has track under it). If you made it higher and a little more banked, it'd be perfect. The overall footprint is pretty much dead on, just the element heights seem a little bit off in those 2 places. I know you just had to guess at those though, as the stats on the Maverick site don't give the height of every element.
