Just got back from the park and saw something interesting at Maverick. They are doing work in the launch tunnel and there's a ton of scaffolding and a temporary platform above the track installed inside the tunnel. My friend got a picture with his cell phone camera, which I'll get from him later and post (unless someone else beats me to it).
I wonder what's going on in there.. Didn't see any other activity at the site.

I'm sure there's tweaking that needs done prior to opening. They'll most likely have to change a few things since the trains won't be going upside down through a heartline roll anymore too.

They're installing a "catch" under the station track.
Let me paint a picture or two:
- sombody might drop a loose article in the station while attempting to cross the train and place it in a bin. What happens if that article falls into the track? It either lands on the tracks below or possibly on a rider entering the launch tunnel
- or on the gross side of things, imagine a guest with an upset stomach on the platform...do you really want that dripping on to you as you enter the launch tunnel?

I'll make a guess and say that it was an "oopsie" since they were testing the ride and it was scheduled to open last weekend.
That is, unless they knew they were going to have more time than expected...dun dun dun....
