MAVERICK good lookin ride..

I cant wait to ride it . Its so nice to see a low scale down to the ground look. It will really be a hugger. Its also nice to see a coaster that is under 150 feet tall so that the whole family can ride. Its kind of like a mine train on steriods! In my opinion , I was bummed when Cedar Pointremoved one of the best log flumes ever created. But this coaster fits so well into this footprint. I do hope all agree. Good luck to Maverick. ANd it looks like its themed well to.!!!!

So any ride under 150 feet is considered a "family ride".

Families sure seem to enjoy Raptor.

^^ It was definetly one of the better ones.

I dont see it being a " family" oriented ride either just because it is under 150 ft. tall.

Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27

Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini

Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-

There are members of my family that won't ride Gemini and it looks to be WAY tamer than Maverick.

I have not rode every flume ride, but Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls at Island of Adventure in Florida was very good. It has good themeing and a ride the whole family can enjoy.

I also have not ridden many, but I don't see how many could compare to Disney's Splash Mountain.

^I think you're missing my point. Some of the most intense ride in the world are under 150 feet.

I would never consider Maverick a family coaster. In fact it looks much more intense than the other 16 coasters to me.

In fact, I don't think CP ever called it a family coaster. I believe they just said that going really tall scares people away. A lot of people like Mantis and Raptor, but Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster just seem like they are pushing the limits a little to much. Not really a family ride, but more of a ride that caters to more.

CP did say that it was a ride that was designed to be more geared toward the tamer roller coaster crowd but they never said it was a "family coaster" that one I am sure of.

Beeeeehhhhhhh!!!!!

I don't think this will be a tamer roller coaster. An acclerated lift hill, and then a 70 mph launch. All of this with inversions and a 95 degree drop. Lol, i don't think its going to be tame at all. But it will be fun and thats all that matters.

Raptor Rides-363

All riders on Maverick must be at least 48” tall to ride. Because of this height requirement, Maverick is a coaster that the entire family can enjoy. In addition, Maverick’s highest point is 105 feet – not as intimidating as rides like Top Thrill Dragster or Millennium Force.

From the CP website FAQ section

I don't think the roller coaster can be called tame, nor do I think CP is trying to market it as tame, but it does look like something which will appeal to a larger audience than MF or TTD. Height can be a lot scarier to people than speed. Tons of families ride Test Track at Disney, but not a lot of people want to get on the rides on the Stratosphere Tower simply because of height.

Thrills Around the Corner!

I always used to be scared of heights, but I just started riding them anyway when I was younger and ever since then I keep riding them. I guess being up 300 feet doesn't bother me as long as there is no Emergency. I wouldn't call Maverick tame either, I would call Corkscrew tame because it's under 100 feet tall and anybody can ride that.

But but... you have to be 48 inches to ride Millennium Force.... does that make it a family ride too? ;)

Height limit means nothing. This coaster looks intense, not tame like the woodstock's express. I just hope that because Cedar Point is really pushing this as a family ride that little kids that do go on it don't get freaked out and never want to ride another coaster again.

^CP tried to say the same thing about Skyhawk and its height limit. While Skyhawk isn't quite as intense as Maverick should be, it surely isn't a Mine Ride/Iron Dragon tame they make it out to be.

But hey, if that's their reasoning to put these great rides in, then I'm fine with that. :)

Is it a bad sign that all of my Maverick dreams have included the ride feeling slow, and lacking airtime...

Well I guess I've only had 2 dreams... but both of them have been a let down. In one of them, on the lift the LSM fins were spaced well apart...so you'd accelerate, and then slow down before the next one caught you.... and there were clip on fans on the lift hill to keep the fins cool... And for some reason, all the people I work with in my office were on the ride with me. Weird...
