And what if a seagull happens to hit you on the way down on MF?

Who do you sue then?

I don't know, ask Fabio.

But do you have video of it?

Goodbye MrScott

John

I've worn small stud earrings on the Maverick, and when your head is bashed into those stupid restraints it's definitely painful.

So no other OTSR rides in the park are getting this rule enforced as harshly as Maverick? Considering the first couple stories about the crew this year, I was initially thinking maybe they just needed to relax a bit.

But, if earrings are inflicting such harsh pain, and they've had to come up with a rule this strict, I'd think buying soft straps would be the far better choice than pissing off a bunch of customers. I'm sending an email to Cedar Point suggesting the fix, and I'd encourage others to do the same.

^ I already did as soon as I got home from the park yesterday.

Why is everyone hatin' on Maverick? I think the ride is fun!!

I agree if you wear earrings don't ride... less wait time aka more rides for me.

As CF grows we'll see more and more of these "common sense" rules due to more people attempting to sue. Aka no single riders on GW.

Edit: Emailing the park is going to do nothing. They will trade them out when it's time to get them replaced and if they don't oh well.

I know i'm in the minority but I like mavericks OTSR's. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

My buddy forgot to take his earrings out on Monday and had a nice bloody gash behind his ear to show for it.

Strongly disagree every time I see comments like this. You have people that will exclaim posting opinions on these forums will do absolutely nothing. Then, people claiming that contacting the park will do nothing.

The truth is...any business that ignores free feedback from customers is completely idiotic. I don't think the Cedar Fair parks are completely idiotic.

The only way the park is going to do nothing is if no one ever makes comments, suggestions, or complaints.

Couldn't agree more, Ffej. Not only are they read, but they can make a huge impact. I know for a fact that the vast majority, if not all, are seen. It just needs to be written intelligently.

I will say that I've emailed the park on a number of occasions, and I have received a response from someone every time. None of them were form letter responses either. All of them were actual emails someone sat down and sent back to me, whether it was to compliment a particular employee, voice a concern, or suggest a new idea. While it may take a couple of weeks to hear back, I do appreciate the fact that my opinions are heard and responded to.

To me it seems like Cedar Fair parks do their damnest to alienate the general public. There are fixes for the problems that the park currently has in regards to the OTSR's on Maverick and the seat belt issues on MF and Top Thrill Drag Queen.

1. Put the softer OTSR's on Maverick like I305 has. Problem solved a s far as earrings go.

2. Put OTSR's on MF and TTD. Yes, granted the 0.01% of coaster geeks like us might not like them, but we are the minority. I have never had any issues fitting on MF or TTD, but I know alot of people that have in recent years.

These seem to be fairly simple fixes on the 3 most popular rides at the point, but instead of fixing them we have seat belts that are all over the map as far as length goes, and people bleeeding from having ear rings after riding Maverick.

But, what do I know I have already made my one trip to the park this year and could care less if I go again untill next year. Then again I'm a part of the 0.01% percent club and could care less if they change anything. The general public on the other hand spend more money at the park then I do, and could be influenced on not going next year if they have a bad experience this year.

Switching Millie and TTD over to OTSR would be cost prohibitive to say the least.

And won't you be special and awesome.

If this is really going on, what made it a non-issue for the previous five seasons? My wife and I have dozens of laps, some in the same day, without incident, with crap in our ears. The only thing I can reasonably deduce is that someone made a really stupid decision.

You should be banned for life from Cedar Point for even suggesting this.

I don't get this at all. If you have signs posted, you warned them. Enough said.

Not really... I still see people trying to sneak those draw string bags onto Millenium when they have a person sitting out front making it 100% clear that you are not allowed to bring them.

Those are 2 different things. That right there just shows some people don't like to follow rules once they've been explained. However, since rides like Maverick and Mantis have signs posted stating that due to the dynamics of the ride, it is best that they remove any type of ear piercings, nobody can sue CP since these warning signs are visibly shown. If you don't want to take the time to remove your piercings, that is a risk you yourself is willing to take. Anyways, a lot of people were kind of irritated with this new rule since a lot of people either don't have pockets to put their earrings in, have a new piercing, or have an over abundance of them.

I agree with this. I still stand behind my opinion on the the maverick OTSR's. I do like them. They're not as bad as you all make them out to be.

We're all entitled to our own opinions.

In a perfect world they could just put the signs up and not have to worry about getting sued. However, with people being sue happy these days they will still TRY to sue. It's a lose lose. People like you Jeff are told to remove your earrings because of people like the woman who reported a head injury on SOB at KI. Blame the people like HER for these b.s. rules not the park or angry ride crew.

No one "likes" OTSR's. You blindly defend the park out of fanboyism in the face of rational thought.
