Markings on Iron Dragon...

I'm not trying to start any rumors or anything else, but I went to the park yesterday and noticed something that never caught my eye before. I was taking pictures of the Iron Dragon at the pretzel and noticed numbers on the columns towards the bases and what seemed like handwritten numbers on portions of the track. Now like I said before, I'm not trying to start anything, and/or maybe I just never paid any attention to it before, but I really don't remember seeing this in previous years. Part of me thinks that they're for maintenance reasons. But the other part of me is screaming what the rest of us are dying to know....
They are for maintenance - if there is a problem with a particular portion of the ride, they can cite those numbers to locate it quickly. Also, they may have been used in part for construction of the ride -- you certainly wouldn't want to get them in the wrong order!

I know the Magnum track sections are marked with numbers.

"You wouldn't beleive me if I told you!"

Incidentally, the markings on Dragon have been there for years - but doesn't the lagoon water normally hide them to an extent, so they aren't quite as visible? I know the mist does, the days it's working.

The markings on the columns are  there for maintenance, they cant hide them with the lagoon, it is for night maintenance so that they can go out and locate problem areas. Sometimes when the ride computer spits out a trouble code it will tell what section of the track it is in, then they are able to locate the area.

I believe that all the rides have numbers throughout the track, each piece is numbered in order.
