Marathon 4th of July...

Myself, and a few of my friends are picking certain coasters to marathon for the rides we've set goals for, I'm marathoning Millennium Force, one of my friends is going for Magnum, another is going for Gemini, anyone else up for marathoning on the 4th of July?

Can't wait for 07 season!

That's a bad day to marathon something if you plan on getting a lot of rides.

It's a 14hr day and when the fireworks start, everyone fills the midways and the lines get shorter, and i've been there on 3 4th of July's and it's never been too busy, i mean its no walk on's, but it's not 2hr waits.

4th of July is not that bad of a day its more of a normal day plus it a sunday this year. The midways normally get fuller around 6 but really the ride lines don't really get to busy. Just to clearafy I am going do with Scotts Millenium on the 4th and you can guess what ride I am riding all 14 hours

I went on the 4th last year and I vowed to NEVER do it again. When I waited a half hour to ride the monster, I said, "this is it". We had to drive around for quite a while to find somewhere to park. I guess we are spoiled getting a lot of visits in May, early June, and Halloweekends. We went at least 30 times last year, and the 4th was the busiest day that we went, by at least 3-fold.
I don't know. From my understanding, July 4th can be a "busy" to "extremely extremely busy" day.

Keep in mind that the past couple years the 4th has been a weekday. This year it is on a Sunday, which means the crowds we be naturally higher, not including the extra crowds for the fireworks.

I would recommend trying this on any other day. Trying to marathon on a Sunday alone is crazy enough.

Of course, any time in the summer is busy. I would recommend a weekday in early june (or may, which has already passed) or perhaps in late august or earlier september before halloweekends.

last year it was on a Friday and it wasn't that bad. I am think of a busy day yes but non the less it is the only 14 hour day the park is open. I believe that it will work out maybe not as many rides as i would like to get that day but I will still get a lot out of the day.

James K. and Magnum Jeff...how do you figure it will be more crowded on a Sunday? I thought that it would be less busy because Sunday is supposedly the least busiest day of the week at CP. I checked the FAQ section on here and it says this: "3. Basically, all things being equal (i.e. dry weather), here is a breakdown of the busiest days, in order: Saturday, Wednesday/Monday/Friday/Thursday/Tuesday/Sunday."
i just figure that because more people might have monday off. I am just saying that it will be a busy day not anything out of the normal. But it will be busy. All i hope for is a glommy day that day to drive people away.

Monday will probably be very busy too because July 5th is the legal holiday and many businesses will be closed.

Go in the morning before the crowds pick up. They pick up around 4or 5 because of the starlight rate.
Marthoning anything in July or August seems like a bad idea. If you want to do your marathonging, do it as soon as possible, because the midways are just going to get busier as the summer goes on. There is a very noticeable difference between when the schools were still in session and now that they are out.

Marathoning on the 4th of July weekend just seems like a bad idea to me. Last year the lines were horrendous, in my opinion.
