Map Mistakes

Hey, I know its not that big of a deal, but pull out your 2001 CP Maps, and look at all the BIG mistakes that have happend here....

1. The Raptor loop has track going through the loop.

2. The Gemini has one track.

3. Wildcat looks nothing like it is, and is in the shape of an "8".

4. And they should at least have people in the trains.

OK, I'll go to bed now. Let me know if you see any more.

Over the years, the CP maps have had way too many "mistakes" to count! Probably a matter of trying to make something easy-to-read and fun to look at instead of accurate.

I think you're missing the general idea of a map. If we were talking a road map, yeah, I would want one to be correct. But, CP's map has one purpose, to show you how to get to a ride or attraction.

Raptor Laps: 3
Magnum Laps: 2
Power Tower Launches: 1
Power Tower Drops: 1
Look at a, say, 1997 map compared to a 2000 map. The 1997 map has way more detail and is larger and to me, more accurate than the newer ones. When the map got majorly redrawn to include MF, they sorta changed it.
Its a little cartoonish, thats ok - It gives a feeling of fun....and you are more interested in *where* things are then if the layout is exact.

But if you looked at a actual Wildcat blueprint from top view - it is a figure 8 inside an oval - so I dont see anything wrong with that.
Geez, sorry, I guess I shouldn't have posted if I knew this was gonna happen. I know the freaking map is not to scale, I was just saying the big mistakes.

Actually almost all park maps are drawn in a caricature type way, especially Cedar Point's. I love how the tall rides shoot up really high.

If you look at the large souveniere maps, all of these problems are fixed because it's a much larger scale, the smaller maps don't have as much room for detail.

My favorite park map is probably the map for the Magic Kingdom at Disney World...I love how each land is a different color and the rides look somewhat 3-D

I know how you feel Kevin...I was outraged when they changed the detailed, exquisite map for a cartoony, Six Flags-excuse-for-a-map.

The old maps had trains on the coasters...this one has none except MF and Mean Streak....they have the wrong number of cars.

Mantis is colored wrong, and the 3rd inversion starts at the top and then goes over the last brake-run.

The colors on PT are backwards.

They still have the walk-through tunnel and Train tunnel messed up.

MF has an extra bunny hill.

I could go on and on with this map.
Mine Ride has a large first drop...fact I don't think that layout for MR is right at all.

There's no Himalaya next to PT.

Magnum's second tunnel is missing.

The beach walkway that leads to Sandcastle Suites mysteriously disappears behind Magnum's pretzel.

Correction to CP_bounds post: MF has two extra bunny hills. Two before the station, which should just be one, and one just after the first turn.

Jr. Gemini is color brown as if it were made of wood.

That's my findings. *** This post was edited by Vince on 7/26/2001. ***

Vince, there actually is a Himalaya by Power Tower!

My favorite mistake I think was on the 1993 map. They misspelled "Blue Streak" to "Blue Steak."

Gemini 100: 100
Did they really mispell Blue Streak! Thats SAD!

Magnum is sinking: check again. There's no Himalaya on the 2001 Fun Guide map.
Sorry, my mistake. I misunderstood.

Found another mistake! On the Frontier Trail where MF crosses over, both tunnels 1 and 2 end before it crosses the trail.

*ohh yeah im good*

Yeah, I was going to mention that one, but when the map was made for the 2000 season, that's what the orignal plans were. The train was supposed to go through a tunnel, and the pedestrains were supposed to walk under MF's track.

This plan was ditched because of a problem with the train's hot smoke/ashes/cinders...at least that was what we heard about it.

Anyway, I really couldn't blame the 2000 map, but I think they chould have at least changed it for the 2001 map.
I was bored so i searched back into the GTTP archives and randomly picked this thread to bring back ha.
