How many people would like the Mantis to be a sit down coaster, not a stand-up one? I hear a lot of people say that because of the pain. I guess it would be cool.

I would like the sit-down experience, but I really like the stand up too. I guess it's a tie for me, both offer great ride experiences. I don't have any pain at all so I really like stand up rides.

It would be interesting but more loops would have to be added to keep it up to the pace of new costers! Which wouldn't be a problem, would it? ;)

I've never really had a problem with pain either, only the first time, now I've fixed it. Sit down might be cool though.

Someone I know (female) sat down during Mantis and thought it was horrible. Then again, the sitting down might have been the effect, not the cause. I didn't enjoy Mantis that much because I spent the whole time worrying about the G's hurting too much and I couldn't actually enjoy the ride. Maybe the second time will be better.

Like it has been said here before, Mantis as a sitdown ride would probably be pretty boring. It's layout was obviously created with standup stocks in mind, so that all of the forces would be bearable to the average joe. I'm thinking that compared to other B&M's, Mantis would give a relatively unexciting ride due largely to the "fan-turn" element after the dive loop (but not only this).

I got it! I got it! They can get the floorless trains, then they redo the second half of the ride after the blocks and rename it the Mantis' Revenge.

I really enjoy Mantis. Why change it?
On the floorless coaster concept, I always felt that they should raise the seats more (note, I am not talking about Mantis). A floorless coaster with seats that feel like you are sitting on a barstool. You would have a feeling a falling off. The current concept of a Floorless coaster just doesn't seem extreme enough.

(Jeff waits quietly for Rideman to explain that a major station and control retrofit would be required to put other trains on Mantis.)

Ok, lets just think for a minute. The Mantis is different than all of the coasters at Cedar Point. On the Mantis you STAND-UP. Now why is it people are shocked because the Mantis hurts their legs. Now let's just think about this, you're NOT SITTING DOWN, BUT you're STANDING UP. Why is that so difficult to understand. That's like complaining about your ears poping when you take off on an airplane. Just USE COMMON SENSE. It's not that difficult to understand on the Mantis. You STAND UP on it.

When I said sit-down I meant trains like on MF or Magnum.

I personally love the feeling of standing up on Mantis. That is my two cents worth.

I hope they never do that. Mantis is one of my all time favorite rides, and the rush I get from it is amazing, even with the trim on the first drop. What some people think is leg pain, I view as pure power, and I think it's great that I can barely walk after getting off of it...it makes me feel like I conqured something. It's not so much pain as it is fatigue...which I don't think hurts, just makes your legs tired. But I have strong legs, so that could help.

Hey, all standup coasters have one thing in common (well, maybe not RR). They all have tight s-curves right before or after the brakes. I LOVE those elements. They throw you around unmercifully. I was up so high in my seat, on the one after the corkscrew's turnaround I actually kicked the leg of my friend because I flew off the floor.
I love the standup drop too. Nothing really holding you to the ground. Just a few inches of floating. The trims aren't bad either, as they add to the floating in the loops!
