Supposedly, Mantis used to be able to dispatch a train after the other one went on the mid course break run. But that was before seat belts and patient ride hosts. If there were any chance for Mantis to run 3 trains again, the crews would have to lock the stand up positions only once. The ride hosts always have to unlock and re-lock the seats multiple times; so that adds another minute into the interval.

That train has been sitting there for at least 10 years.
Don't they switch the trains out annually?
I would guess going on 10 years as well; does anybody have a defenitive date?
Kinda pathetic that the reason for the stacking (and subsequent removal of the third train) was due to people not being intelligent enough to understand such complicated direction as 'stand up straight'.
Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."
I guess it has been for about ten years.

But I think last year was the first time the third train has not made it back on to the transfer.

I'm pretty sure the trains are still rotated at least occasionally (with the one sitting in storage). I know a few years ago they had a problem with one that was continually rolling back. They pulled it and replaced it with the one in storage a few weeks after the park opened for the season.

My guess for only one train running would be due to the low attendence in the park. I wacam looking at the dragster cam yesterday and it didn't look like there were many cars in the lot. I'm pretty sure that if the park was more crowded they would have put the other train on.
Something like this happened with Mean Streak a few years back when I went to CP on a rainy day. The weather was really crappy from about 10am to 12pm. At about 1pm the sun came out and more people came into the park. Surprisingly Mean Streak had a long line...
They were only running one of the trains at the time of the crappy weather. Once the nice weather came and the Mean Streak line grew, they put the other 2 trains onto the track.
I'm sure by the begining of June, if not sooner, we will see both Mantis trains on.
