Mantis train?

Yes they do have the ride ops fasten your seatbelt now. In fact, as part of the spiel, you are repeatedly told not to touch your seatbelt, a ride op will be around to fasten it for you.
They also tell people to stand up straight, don't bounce, and please don't stand on the rails... and we all know how well everyone pays attention to the anouncments.
There are many factors why its slow. I think the major one is the way you have to stand. Yes maybe some of the Gen. Pub. is stupid and doesn't know you have to stand , but thats not the major reason. I for one can't seem to stand properly. I get in and stand straight with heels all the way back and knees straight, but they always come around and unlock my restraint. THey tell me my butt isn't in the seat and i try to explain to them the only way my butt fits into the seat is if i bend my knees or slouch, but of course thats a no no. So they tell me to sit all the way down then to stand up, while in the process of standing up they pull the restraint up as hard as they can so that i'm on my tippy toes and then they lock it. Well now my butts in the seat but i'm not in for a comfortable ride. I think they need to be less picky and just say your knees need to be straight and no slouching.

I had an experiance very similar to cedarpointfreak's on Mantis a few weeks ago. I was riding front seat, far side by the operator booth. I was standing the way I always have for this ride, but the lady told me to sit. I was a little confused, but I complied. She then told me to jump from my sitting position! I questioned it, and she told me to just do it. When I jumped, she hoisted the seat upward, and the guy watching in the control booth locked the seat while I was in air. Forget tippy toes, my feet weren't even touching the ground. Most painful ride ever.

Well, it would figure that when I came back to the station, they had rotated positions, making it impossible for me to get a name. Still, I wrote a complaint to the park and received a letter via snail mail a few days later. They explained the complex loading procedures on Mantis, but did appologize saying that what happened to me was definately not standard procedure.

And that leads to another point. If you aren't positioned correctly with regards to standing, who cares? That's your own damn fault. Truth is that the restraint is not going to let you come out anyway. This nonsense where they'll unlock the seat and hoist it up your ass is ridiculous.

Being a stand-up coaster, the ideal position is that the seat not be touching your ass at all. If it's that close to your crotch you can't stand with straight legs because your legs don't bend that way around the seat. This leaves the ideal for most adults to have the harness just touching your shoulders, which leaves about an inch or two between your goodies and the seat.

But that will never matter since the people who work that ride are perpetually cranky.

Isn't that the truth? It seems no matter who they hire to run that ride, they are always rude and unfriendly. Case in point, one of the ride-ops on that ride asked me to put my feet back, cause it was above that grey area....Is that not anal?

Yeah, they told me exactly the same thing last month, it's bloody annoying. In all honesty the crew's never been up to much since us English left it in 2000.
You put yourself in their shoes working 60+ hours in a week, and then come back to me.

How bout all the other ride ops at cp? they work 60 + hours and seem to be fine. I don't hink its all the crews fault. I think its more of Cp's riding policy for mantis, they decided to require a certain riding position that is unpopular, uncomfortble, and not necissary. THey are just doing their jobs but I think Cp needs to reverty back to just having your legs straight no slouching. Instead of this butt on seat BS

If you don't like your job, by all means quit. Your job is to put on a smile for guests who leave their brains at home. No one cares or wants to hear if you're having a bad day.
