Mantis Train

Did anyone notice that Mantis' 3rd train was still covered and under the track? I wonder if they will even bother putting it on this year? Last year I believe it sat on the transfer track the entire year.
It's wrapped for freshness!

I can just picture those two women from the Reynold's Wrap commericials now, standing by the train..... ;)

In another thread somewhere it was mentioned that they were only using 2 trains. This meant that the ride was running really fast because the trim on the first hill wasn't grabbing. If they use only 2 all season I'd be really surprised.

You conquered Magnum...now capture the moment

I wouldn't be - they only used two all of last year... :)

Believe me, they won't be using that third one anytime soon (soon being this season)... we should all take advantage of it though, the ride is awesome once again without those trims. Most intense in the park IMO.

Ok, I'll give ya the fact that they'll only run two trains from now on, but..

What if something happens to one of the trains and they need to remove it. Wouldn't it be nice to have that train on the transfer so they don't have to go down to one train? Seems like that'd be smart to me. Will they do that later in the season?

So the trims are off now?

Well they are still there, they're just not operating.

I thought it was a great ride without the trims opening day. I was surprised because the trains were full, and I'd never seen it run without the trim and a full train (with the exception of the time before the brake existed).

I hated those trims!
It was NEARLY the entire season last year... one of my trips there last year (but only one), they were running 3 trains.

So what exactly changed that made them go to 2 trains from now on? Lower crowds?

No, it was the fact that the third train added no capacity. There was almost always a train sitting in the brakes, which doesn't add to your capacity. Why put wear and tear on the train if it isn't helping?

It took them 5 years to figure that out? Therefore, the trim on the first hill wouldn't have even been added if they had discovered this earlier...

Not exactly... capacity was much better before they added the seat belts (which seems odd that they were not there in the first place).

Which is really odd that they weren't...with B&M being all into redundancy and such.

As long as those trims aren't used all is good with me! Thanks Cedar Point! Two coasters got changed, at least one was worthwhile!

I hope they keep those trims off all season. Were they there in the first place to slow you going into the loop or becasue they were there to help blocking situation
I was under the impression that the trim on the drop was added due to rider complaints of leg/knee pain after riding. I personally loved Mantis the first season it was open, after they added the brake, I think I've rode it maybe 5 times.
