All right - I know that this must have been discussed in the past but I feel as though I need to bring it up again. Who thinks that Mantis is a little rough on the legs...perticularly the end of the legs...I dont know about you but everytime I go on that ride I feel as though my legs are in serious pain...other areas hurt too...I was just wondering your thoughts...
Cedar Point - An adventure waiting for everyone.
I have no problem with this ride. I love it and the "rubber leg" feeling that I get from it. Mantis has always been one of my favorite coasters at the park and it is always a treat to ride.

The only problem I've ever had on Mantis is occasionally smacking my head on the restraints. I've been on it enought times now that I know which parts to watch out for though, so it's not really a problem anymore.
Are you sure this isn't the Atlantic Ocean?
GO TIGERS!
I like this ride a lot. I never receive all of this pain and head-banging that people speak of. Guess I'm just weird lol.
Cedar Point rocks my socks.
I know what your talking about, but it doesn't hurt that bad, suck it up. (not to sound like an ass)

They only hurt when you get an untrimmed ride.
I think they hurt more with a trimmed ride, an untrimmed ride is what it was designed for. I feel a lot more headbanging during a trimmed ride, especially in the corkscrew. An untrimmed ride feels a lot smoother.
How do you figure? The coaster is going faster with an untrimmed ride. I got one opening day and my legs hurt more than they ever do with a trimmed ride.
My legs also hurt when I get off Mantis.

I always complain about the way shorts are made now-a-days(long and saggy), but with the crotch of the pants being so low, it works to my advandge. Somehow, I am able to put the seat of Mantis to the crotch(I have large inner-thighs) of my shorts(not my actual crotch) and keep the OTSR loose enough(with a deep breath) that when we leave the station I can move my feet onto the elevated part of the floor. It really helps with the pain I used feel in my legs.
Just a note toward safety, The OTSR is not very loose at all. The most I can get it is one "click" more, but it relieves the headbanging.

Maybe because you are upsidedown longer, your blood rushes to your head, and then back to your feet real quick...? I don't know the exact science, but I know my legs hurt more.
Suck it up. Mantis is a great ride. It is one of the best in the park. I love it. I have no clue how you can hate it. I also like Mean Streak and Wicked Twister, two other rides you guys hate. I have no clue how you hate them. I mean, there roller coasters, our favorite thing on earth!
I probably have no clue why you hate them because I am little.

I love Mantis for one reason alone. It's loop. I love how it's very slow at the top so you can look down at the ground. Best disorienting view in the park.
Coaster Fanatic Since 2003
All through Mantis I yell "My Thighs!"
At the turn of the Millennium, there were signs. Was the something out there?... A mysterious force at work? Beyond words. Beyond comprehension. Beyond, beyond beyond… A natural force simply known as, Millennium Force. The future is riding on it.…
Off current topic but if you recall last year CP did not have two trains running untill the third weekend. This year they have two ( normal op) . Just found it odd but also a good thing since I waited only 10 min. on opening day.
Mantis is not a ride i ride very often. I don't like it because of the headbanging. Some of the seats on the ride is rougher than most would enjoy. If you're unlucky enough to get it then you might be done riding for a while.
I think Mantis is a great ride. Yes, it is a little rough, but I think the layout is creative. It's disorienting and has strong positive G's. The quick changes in direction are awesome too!
