Have the restraints/seatbelts for Mantis and/or Raptor changed over the years? It has been about 5 years since I have been to the park and although I have always fit on those two rides, I am nervous that they changed when MF did. I am 6'3 275 and never had a problem on the rides before. Any other rides besides MF that I should be nervous about???
They were not affected by the change to MF. That affected only Intamin rides with restraints similar to those on SM:ROS.
Of course, logic didn't stop someone from putting seatbelts on Corkscrew.

Thanks!
Did Raptor always have the belt that connected from the shoulder restraint to the seat?? A friend seemed to think that those were new as he had a hard time riding and is similar in size to me.
Should I expect any trouble fitting on TTD?? *** Edited 9/12/2006 6:37:34 PM UTC by Stone72Cold***
^ Those were there in '94 when the ride opened I believe. Also, TTD is a lot mor forgiving than MF. MF is really tight on me now but I still fit comfortably into TTD.

As far as I know, the belts have always been on Raptor. I think they've always been on Mantis as well (or maybe my memory is just a bit fuzzy).

I thought they were always on Mantis too. But, in some other thread, someone said there were added later. That really surprised me since Mantis came after Raptor and I thought those belts were a B&M standard (at least for OTSRs.)
Those seatbelts were hardly B&M Standard. I'm not sure how many of their rides are opening without them now, but there were a solid chunk of rides that didn't have them for a number of years.
Mantis was one of them, which is odd because I thought everything at CP built after 1990 had belts as standard equipment. Ask RideMan his opinion of Mantis' restraints now. :)
I know that all of the B&M hypers don't have seatbelts, which I find out and out SCARY on those rides.
Thanks for the info everyone. I feel a little bit better now. Hopefully it is not real busy this Saturday.
Mantis did not have belts for the first year or two. I'm not sure exactly what year they were installed.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
exit, what B&M OTSR rides don't have seatbelts on them? Granted, I've haven't ridden ALL of them, but I've been on quite a few. I can't think of one that doesn't have that belt on it.
Actually, of ALL the B&Ms I've ridden, I think Raging Bull and Nitro (the hypers) are the only ones that didn't have a seatbelt.
Kumba opened without them, I know this for sure, as I rode it without them, and it didn't have them installed until around 2000, maybe even a little later.
I don't know about the earliest installations of Batman:The Ride, but I want to say those opened without them, too.
I know there's a couple more, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
I went on Nitro and I was like, "Where is the damn seatbelt!" I trust the ride though.

Not having a seatbelt on Raging Bull was really odd. Not having one on Goliath at SFoG also made me quite nervous despite the fact that it wasn't nearly as high as MF. The seatbelt is nice for piece of mind...
Thrills Around the Corner!
I know for sure Mantis did not have belts when it first opened. I have an on ride photo from 1997 with no belts. Also when you go to the CP website and look under the Mantis page, the picture they have there also has no belts. Here's the link if anybody is curious :
