Make it longer!

I just heard that The Beast is now 2 feet longer due to retracking over the winter. How did they actually make it longer, and where? And maybe CP could lengthen one of its woodies. I think Runaway Mine Train would be a good candidate.

The Beast's first drop was re-profiled to improve the transition through the first tunnel. As a result, the first drop gets a little steeper before shallowing out near the bottom, thus is less of a straight line, resulting slightly longer track. But it's important to note that the purpose of this modification wasn't to make the ride longer.

Also, CP does not have a ride called "Runaway Mine Train". They have "Mine Ride", but it is not a wooden coaster. It's a hybrid coaster with steel track.

Funny you should point that out, I didn't even think twice. When I was talking to my grandpa about Cedar Point he said the last big ride he remembered was the runaway mine train.It took me awhile to figure it out but I think one of the history books I have show it being marked under the Arrow ride model which is a runaway mine train!So I wonder if that was technically correct in some way at some time.

Why do people think they can just lengthen a roller coaster. This isn’t rct. Physics and money is real. Or so I’m told.

Don't all coasters have steel track?

Reminds me of when TTD was announced and a good number of folks on here and elsewhere were convinced that the launch-tophat-brakes layout was "temporary" and they'd be adding more track the next off-season.

Most wooden coasters have wooden tracks, with a steel plate on top of the wood.
