Main Cedar Point Sign

Being a season pass holder in 89' I remember the big huge Cedar Point Sign that used to grace the corner of Cedar Point Causeway and Route 6. I don't exactly remember when it was removed but sometime between then and 93 it was removed. Just curious as to why it was removed?

The Cedar Point sign was removed before the 1997 season for safety and maintenance reasons. The sign itself was not structurally sound. I used to enjoy driving out there to water the flowers that were planted underneath. It was a nice little break from working in the park.

That sign is cool, I like how it has what looks like 6 flags on it :) Hehehe

I really wish they'd put something up there again. It's not even a nostalgia thing as much as a grand park deserves a grand sign. Many of the Six Flags parks (but not ours) have great signs.

And that sign is not the original one either. If I recall (remember, old lady, dead brain cells), the sign at one time had flags on top of it, or round spinning thingies.

I believe the sign's removal may have also coincided with the logo change.

I would just like to say that as a young child, seeing the sign was always an exicting experience for me. As our car turned onto the causeway, it marked a moment of arrival for me. Sentimentally, I miss the sign, as I'm sure others do also. It's too bad that a new generation of children are missing this little experience that I always considered part of the magic of Cedar Point. I continue to believe that Cedar Point's wonderfully designed new logo should be prominently displayed at the entrance to Causeway Drive for both the community and guests of future generations.

I don't think it did, Dave. My "125 Seasons" flag has the same logo being used now. I will agree, though, that a new sign would be nice.

They need a sign. I remember heading out there last Friday and thinking if you didn't know where to turn you may miss the road. They have all thoes signs with arrows pointing you and then nothing right at the final turn.

That is actually kind of true if you're going west on Route 2 and taking a right onto the causeway. I know where it is and always know to turn at Fridays, etc, but I don't remember nearly as many markings on the east side of the causeway as if you were coming in off 250 from the west of the causeway.

I remember going to CP (don't remember exactly when) and seeing for the first time that the sign was missing. I thought, "cool, they're getting a new sign." Guess not...

Signature Under Construction...

I thought it was spinning pinwheels like what used to be above the games area by Kiddie Kingdom. Or were they indeed flags?
I remember seeing the a sign for the first time. I really loved the feeling as you passed into the causeway. Oh how I miss being a kid. I still act like one, I'm just not one.
I think the sign builds up the anticipation....I like the signs that they add to the Causeway during Halloweekends. It's all in the details.... I think a sign like that have on the Breakers Express would be excellent.

You can kinda say there is a new sign. It's blue and 310 ft. tall. You can see it from 250 just before Bogart Rd. and from the bridge while turning off Milan Rd. It gives me that "kid feeling".

Is that the view from the drivers seat? ;)
