Wait, why is the forum so protective of Magnum? Last few times I rode Magnum the ride was incredibly uncomfortable. The bar pushes on your legs over each bunny hill and you in general just get tossed around. 175 pound male for reference.
I do notice the front is better. I typically avoid this ride as it sometimes leaves me with an achy back/headache..

^If you can avoid being stapled it's not as uncomfortable, at least for me. But people have highly variable experiences on the ride.
Trimless the ride is breathtaking.
Try 3rd row and 7th row for ejector and airtime.
And as said above, don't let the ride op staple you in your seat. Make room for yourself before they come around.

And tighten your seat belt. If your seat belt is restraining you (as opposed to the lap bar), it's not painful.

Every since I tried that technique (after reading it here), I've had some of the best rides on Magnum. Before that, I was in pain every single time on those triangle airtime hills.
Back car second row (6-2) is my go to seat in my old age. I used to love the ejector seat (1-3), but for a bunch of re-rides, the second row of just about any car is going to be smoother.
Honestly, the ride has some personality (moods change with temperature, humidity, train, trims, etc) and some rides/seats are better than others. But over the almost 20 years I've been riding it, I don't feel like it's gone from some smooth as silk experience to what we have today as some of you seem to think. It's always been pretty much the same in my opinion. The only part I'd consider really rough is when you exit the pretzel. The pretzel itself is a lot smoother with no trims.
I hate to tell you guys complaining about Magnum's airtime, but if Magnum is too much for you, you might be in for a rude awakening on Steel Vengeance.

MAybe newer trains or at least more comfortable restraints. The ones they have now did a number on my thighs. would have road it multiple times if they didn't hurt so much
I have worse thigh crush on RMC restraints, so anyone complaining about Magnum will be in pure agony on Steel Vengeance.
Also, Magnum is one of the only rides at CP with any charm in it.
CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium
I'm a 5 foot, small female, and even my thighs get crushed on Magnum. Second seats are probably the most comfortable, and for some reason, riding it at night in the dark makes me less angry about how painful the ride actually is. There's something about being in the hot sun and getting crushed and a headache versus the same pain, but at night. Night is apparently magic and I can forgive the ride for all the pain.
Hope I'm not in for a rude awakening when I ride Steel Vengeance because it's already my second favorite coaster.
We've been to the park several times where we've left without ever having stepped in line for Mangnum. The special place that it holds in the hearts of certain coaster enthusiasts unfortunately doesn't do anything to alleviate the painful ride experience.
Magnum may not be "broke" but it certainly could be improved upon as evidenced by people having to specify certain seats and seating positions to achieve an acceptable ride comfort. In the last several years management has more than demonstrated their commitment toward achieving excellence through renovation and enhancement as opposed to maintaining the status quo.
All management would do by "fixing" the ride as you suggest is destroy Magnum. What makes Magnum great is the character it has. It is by no stretch of the imagination "rough", it is forceful which made it a number 1 ride back in 1989 when it was built. The ride has not changed, it is not rougher or more painful than it was from day one and it is still one of the very best rides anywhere IMHO. Changing the trains would also take away from the ride, it doesn't need modern gimmicks like "floorless" or "open" trains, etc. The classic Arrow trains are beautiful and help make Magnum what it is. The ride has not gotten rough, people maybe aren't as tough.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I am fine with any seat and when people suggest tightening the seat belt I don't think some people understand that means "Really Tight" like ratcheting cargo strap tight. Snug doesn't cut it. :P
I would prefer not to get slammed back down into the seat as hard but I don't find it painful so much as jarring. Headbanging and jack hammering are what do me in.
The seat suggestions aren't for making it more comfortable, it's for MORE airtime or MORE forceful ejection. Reading comprehension much? The crews that work each coaster know which seats give the 'best' rides as they've ridden it many many times in every row, just ask when you're in line.

I'm not complaining about them being "crushed". My issue is during the air time being "thrown into" the bar is what kills my thighs lol
A padded bar in the current cars would do wonders
Speaking of Magnum, has it gotten any 20+ minute lines outside of Saturdays this year? I'll be returning to the park for only the 2nd time this year on Sept 3rd and 4th, Sunday and labor day Monday and I am expecting crowds. Sunday will for sure be busy but I will be there at opening, so I am deciding between riding TTD and Magnum before Maverick which would be my preference, or just hitting MF and then Maverick.
It you're looking to maximize your time, I'd go for Maverick or MF first. If you have early entry, you can get both Maverick and MF done before 10 and then head to TTD right as it opens. You can also save one of the big waits for the very end of the night. Just make sure you're in line before closing time and they'll cycle everyone through. If you really care about TTD though, ride it early or when it's up because you never know how long it will last. :) Unless they decide to only run two trains and the park gets quite busy, I wouldn't expect Magnum to have a large wait these days.
