Consider that in early days of operation he was able to get 50 rides a day for 10 of the operating days. That's 500 rides right there. Then pick up 30 rides a day on various other days and there ya go.
Dan isn't a local, nor an obsessive freak. (um... obsessive, maybe. freak, not necessiarly)

it would be a huge task to ride it 1000 times already this year, take into account line waits also...
Wouldn't be too hard if you have no life.

Will this kid ever sleep through the night?!?
I wish that I would have kept tally every season to know. Opening year was the only season I kept track. I still have my calendar from '89 showing my ride count throughout the season.
So, if a person has they time, 1000 rides already is not as far-fetched as you might think.

1,000 rides on the Magnum is by no means an exaggeration. In fact, it's an understatement as I have accumulated 1,120 Magnum rides to date (this year alone). If you don't believe me, then just ask the regulars on the Magnum staff, Magnum photo, and even the pretzel place, lol. "so that rumour my friend" is not a "rumour" after all.

By the way, which is the famed "ejector seat"? I would like to avoid it! I'm not sure I like airtime, at least not yet. Yet, I sort of do like it! When I rode Magnum last night with my daughter, my butt was in the air most of the time. It felt like the entire train was rising from the tracks, and every now and then it would slam back down onto them. I was several inches forward in my seat when we got back to the station, and I had made sure my seat belt was so tight I was turning blue! The tunnels still flip me out. It sounds like a train wreck going through them as it is, and the dips and rises are just insane. So far, it has been broad daylight, so there is some dimness and you can still see in the tunnels. I am not sure what a night ride would do to my fragile little mind! My one word description of a ride on the Magnum XL-200: Relentless.

The best is when the trims are off. The ride is simply amazing. Now I refuse to ride anywhere but the ejector seat, and the ATL once even asked me why.
I think the ride great for multiple reasons, including the design and minor theming elements (the tunnels are great, especially when the fog is on, which it has been lately.), the capacity, and the overall atmosphere. The Magnum XL-200 is a classic, and as such, will always hold a place in my heart as one of the greatest coasters of all time!
Enough ranting about my favorite coaster, time to move on to Avalanche Run (see my signature)!

P.S. 25 Magnum rides in 2003, 75 to go!
