Magnum Theming

There is talk of bringing back DT's theme.  Anyone remember the warning messages played in the Q during Maggie's first season?    That was Maggie's theme, IMO.  I missed that and the fact that Millie's Q line was quiet both times that I visited the Point last summer.

It added excitement!

Sadly, all of the 'special effects' on Maggie have stopped working (except for 3rd tunnel fog) due to lack of maintenance. It is all still there, they just won't fix it... Anyone remember the 'shooting star' effect in the second tunnel? I think the sound effects in the tunnels were neat too, if you could hear them over the sound of the ride. It is sad to see what has happened to some of the special effects in the park...

The one thing I'd like to see is longer hours and more days for the DJ's in the lines.  CP does do a supurb job of making opening day and every other day throughout the season consistantly good, but not in this regard.  It's a small point to nitpick about, but from what I know the ride-ops are working longer hours and making less than the DJ's who are on a weekly salary (I forget what it was, but its more than I took home for a 60 hour workweek).  I'd like to see a DJ in the queues each and every day and for longer hours too.  Not just 12-8 or whatever it was 6 days a week.  At least having someone there every day would make every guest's visit consistant.

This is not to criticize the money that Live E people make because they most certainly do an excellent job and have a lot more talant than me -especially the people in the shows and such.  I'd just like to see more consistancy with the DJ's.

Hey Matt, I have to disagree with you about the DJs.  Now when Brady and Joe where the DJs they stayed very late up to closing nearly every night in the peak summer months.  You know how dead the ride got in the last hour of the operating day. I think the lines for Magnum will peak just for a few hours in the afternoon and be even more dead in the morning and at night because of Wicked Twister.  With WT & MF being towards the front of the park guests are going to be more tempted to ride those first when they get to the park and end their nights on those two rides.  I would guess that I closed Magnum out about 45+ days this past summer with the exception of closing day and Coastermania I DID NOT wait at all for a train.  Andy and the crew knew I was the last one in line and by the time I got up there, there would be less than 15 people waiting on platform.  So getting back to the topic at hand I think they should start the DJs earlier to get more people in line.  Then again with Magnum in May, Sept, and Oct, there is no needs as there are no lines.  It seems like its getting easier and easier for me to do 1000 laps in one season, then again I don;t have MM to fall back on so I would have to actually work at it.

I would agree that starting them earlier would be good.  It did get pretty dead late at night and I think ending the DJ at 10 when the Summer Spectacular starts is probably late enough.  There was hardly never anyone in the queues past then anyway so having a DJ would be pointless.  I guess what I'm saying is that there were a few days when we had a 30-45 minute line and no DJ.  It was Caleb's day off, but they could probably have a way to have a DJ at the DJ'ed rides every day.  The Auto-DJ was a decent idea, but not quiet the same.

I think you're right about Magnum being more dead this season in the morning and at night.  Maybe the next addition will be back in that direction to draw people back there again.  But what do I care?  I love riding Magnum with no wait whatsoever! :)  That's why when people complain about CP lines I tell them how I could go in at about 9 and get at least 10 rides in by closing.

Yeah, I loved power riding Maggie at night last year. I love the no waits! I was thinking that they should keep the DJ's at the rides that actually have people waiting for them past closing like MF, WT, and Raptor.

We sould raise money to get the effects going on our own! Not like they don't have enough money too do it themselfs but man it sure would be nice to see some of the rides get the effects back!! :)
I had not been to CP in 8 years...

I was worried that my niece and nephew would be afraid of Magnum because of the "warning messages".  When we were in the Q and they were not airing, I was suprised!  I also noticed the missing effects in the tunnels.

DT was a big disapointment after my 8 year absence.  CP totally wrecked that ride.  I remember how it was!  CP is great when it comes to paying attention to the big stuff...it's the small stuff (that really adds up to big stuff) that they have lost.

What all did Magnum's theme entail in the queue? I didn't ride it until 1995, I think...

I believe Magnum had televisions placed throughout the queue warning peeps of the "dangers" of the ride and also they told a little about the ride. The warning speil  is just like the ones that were in the Raptor and Mantis queue.
MS also had televisions in at least it's first year with warnings about the ride.
Bring back all GOOD themeing! ;)
