Magnum Question?

OK I have been wondering this for a longtime. What are the metal things sticking out the side of the first drop on Magnum for? Here's a pic of them.

When I first saw them I thought they were for another track on the side and then I thought they were for the walk to continue down the side of the track. But I really don't know what there for, and would like to, so if anyone knows that would be great. Thanks.

You can see in these photos what they're being used for at the top:

Stair supports - the stairs were originally supposed to go all the way down the first drop.

HA. Can you imagine? I'm sweating just thinking about that...

So if they were supposed to, why didn't they continue?

Thats a good question! I always wondered the same thing. What those were for? I just figured they were for some kind of structural support or something.

Because there is no need for them?

Plus, it would not look good with them. Just take a look at Steel Dragon.

I can't view the image you're speaking of, but when I worked beneath the Magnum on the go-karts in '02, I saw numerous times throughout the summer where the train would get stuck on the lift hill and the riders had to walk down stairs. Again, I haven't seen the picture, but this is one possibility.

Well, if there was no need for them, why were the supports continued to far? They serve noi other purpose.

It's very similar to MF's trim brake mount after the last bunny hill. It was manufactured and put on the ride, but in the end, they never needed it. It's not worth the cost of cutting each one off so they stay there forever.

Why are you sweating? Open a window, it's nice outside. *** Edited 4/16/2006 2:32:15 AM UTC by Gomez***

Obviously you've never worked on the ride and had to walk all the way to the top for training, and again for walk-downs...

Walking up and down the lift hill is one thing - walking down then up the steep first drop? That idea was making anonymous sweat.
