I am not sure if this was a rumor or not...but did the Magnum get the paint job yet? If so, does it change the coaster any?

Magnum got a paint job on it's brake canisters, that's it so far. Hopefully that will continue to the whole ride next year.

No, Magnum has not received a paint job yet. Mantis was scheduled to be painted this year, but that project was actually delayed for 2003. Rumor has it that Magnum is next in line after Mantis for a paint job, and it would be nice to see, but it's hard to tell what will happen.

Why would they paint if it has to be removed because of the sinking? lol

I don't remember Magnum looking too badly when last I was there (last year). Then again, I wasn't paying all that much attention. Mantis on the other hand looks pretty bad.

CP Fan, you must not have seen it when it was first built then. The actual paint job doesn't look bad but it's an awful faded orange now instead of the red it used to be. But we don't wanna start the Magnum color debate again! ;)

I do believe that magnum is quit due for a paint job but I am glad that my favorite bird of prey got a paint job she looks great. But even though I don't really like the big bug I do think it deserves a paint job.

Funny thing about Magnum's paint job is that it's gone from bright red, to faded red to the very nice shade of orange it is today. Honestly, it doesn't that bad since it's changed from the faded red to orange

Red fades to pink i/e Mantis...Orange fades to...well, a lighter orange i/e Magnum.

I just think it's funny how Mantis's colors are pink, purple, and light yellow. The track and supports don't even match the trains anymore!

So CP_Bound is slickly entering his opinion that Magnum was originally ORANGE! :) (of course I believe he is right too! :))

Thanks for that tid-bit SpikeMindoa. That has to be the strangest thing someone has spotted at CP that I have heard yet.  :)

Even Cedar Point's official site says that Magnum is red:

"A traditional out-and-back "hyper-coaster," Magnum's 5,106 feet of red steel tubular track runs through Soak City water park and along the Lake Erie shoreline, giving riders spectacular views to go along with magnificent hills and blazing speeds. In its 11-year history, this steel giant has given more than 24.5 million rides."
