Magnum not the only coaster with a big anniversary this year.

The Mine Ride is 40, the Jr. Gemini and new Wildcat is 30. Raptor is 15 and Woodstock Express is 10. And the best woodie at the park the Blue Streak is 45 years young.

The Mine Ride has been a good family ride for many years. I am sure for most of you this was one of your first coaster credits. And if you have ever worked at CP you've probably ridden it may times during Big Bash. The Mine Ride is the first coaster in Cedar Point's history to run for 40 years.

The Wildcat is a great little coaster and the only Anton Schwartzkof coaster CP will probably ever have. This was a common coaster design at one time but now Cedar Point's is one of the few left. The ride replaced an older wildcat that was sent to Valleyfair with little fanfair.

Even though the Jr. Gemini has been around for 30 years I have never been on it as I was too big for it when it opened but happy birthday anyway.

The Raptor is stiil one of my favorite coasters and it was exciting to work at CP its first season and fortunate to get on it before it opened to the public. Raptor was an immidiate hit with employees and the general public alike. We had 4 ride nights that year on it and everyone went.

Woodstock Express is a wild little coaster. Its first drop is the best I have ever experienced on a "family" coaster.

And the Blue Streak is a classic. It doesn't awe us with statitics just gives a great ride. Even with all the changes it is still a lot of fun. And it was built in 1964. A lot of good things happened in 1964.

Happy birthday to all

How is Mine Ride the first coaster at CP to run for 40 years if Blue Streak is 45?

Before you know it, Maverick will be ready for pre-school. And it's already had its wisdom inversion removed . . .

So is Ripcord. And Halloweekends! :-)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I meant to say that the Mine Ride is the first STEEL coaster to run for 40 years. Sorry for the confusion.

And then the Adena fairy came in the night and took it away leaving a quarter.

Actually, I found a picture of him before he came back at night.

Wait, there's coasters worth mentioning besides Magnum? :)

LOL. Although perhaps the Adena fairy needs a slightly larger pair of pliers . . . :)

Wow, it seems like everything is getting older. Lol. I am glad there are many coasters that are getting older, which means that the older coasters get the better they run ;)

Um, hello? Mean Streak turns 18. Have fun paying overpriced cigarettes and lottery tickets, and access to strip clubs, still no Louies though..

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

MS turns 18, so being of age, he can see strippers. But you have to be 19 to get into Louies.

Considering we've all seen a pair of......at a very young age (think breast feeding), I suppose it's fine if 18 year olds can get into a strip joint. Kids are lucky that under 21 are even allowed into Louie's, given all the underage drinking that goes on in there.

I think they realize a large amount of their business comes from underage drinking...

You guys are forgetting about a coaster. For 30 years It's still the longest in the world. The answer is THE BEAST! I know it's not a Cedar Point coaster, but it's in Ohio. :)

Good call Shawn. I rode The Beast for the 3rd time already this season today at Kings Island. I still wish they would get rid of a few of the trims, but the ride is still as good as it always has been. That last helix always is a blast!

Ryan

Hoping to one day build these great machines that we affectionatly call "Coasters"
