I think I found a link to what you're referring to, but it says the page no longer exists. I did however come across a Magnum video where VertiGo is present. :)
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I was looking for the video, but all I can find is the one with Vertigo in it. I remember that the Discovery Channel site had two a few years back and one was from Magnum's opening year, and the other from a coaster show the year Vertigo was at the park. That's unfortunate if the video is indeed gone. It was neat to see the ride as it was originally designed and built.
On the other hand, on one of the America's Greatest Coasters DVD's, there is a video of Magnum after the pretzel was modified in the mid-nineties. Less exciting than the Discovery Channel video, but neat none-the-less.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I found the video you want, it's in a little more of an obvious place than discovery.com.

Coincidence? I think not!
Those silly Canadians are psychic.
Gomez, that is the video I was referring to. It was on the Discovery Channel site a few years back, but they must have removed it. It never even crossed my mind to look on the Cedar Point site. Oh well, now people can see the video.
Wow, that was obvious.... Look at how shiny the track and supports look. I hope it gets that paint job this winter so we can see it like that again. I also noticed the general lack of most of Soak City. :)

Wow! I never knew they modified the 3rd hill and pretzel. And I had no clue Magnum had upstop pads. Thanks for the info on the videos. You really can tell a difference if you play the video taken in 89 side by side with a current video.
I would like to see before an after photos if anyone has any. *** Edited 12/29/2004 1:32:35 PM UTC by delphi94***

I think I have a b&w photo I got directly from CP which shows the side of the train in motion. If I can find it, you should be able to see the upstop pads clearly. I'll try to post it soon.
In this picture you can see that the track is different when you look at the spine.

On this one in the gallery if you look at the supports under the trims you can see where the track used to go.

2002-2007 - Season Pass
The upstop pads were the reason why the train got stuck in the first half of pretzel. It slowed down due to wind gusts. And due to the banking,it was riding on the pads which prevented it from going far. So it sat up there with a train-load of guests.
The trims on top of 3rd hill were due to cracks appearing in the track where it started to go down.
I can't remember which year they were moved to present location. But they stayed on top of hill for at least 3 seasons. The pretzel was replaced in '94,when Raptor opened.
Does anyone remember riding its first season when there was no padding in the trains, not even on the lap bars, just straight metal, like how Gemini used to be... ouch!
The Amazement Park
Last summer I seen some bent steel pipe painted orange in the fenced off area opposite of the road from MF's unload station. Apparently they replaced some rail on Magnum. I'm not exactly sure where it was done but it happened sometime over the summer. Seems to me that cutting out 4 or 5 ~20 foot sections of rail and welding a new piece it would be more than an overnight job.
Straight up metal lap bars, OUCH! I'd come to Cedar Point with my football pads on.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.
They did replace a couple of rail sections. It was late Sept. I can't remember which weekend it was. But One trip I saw bright orange section on one side of track at bottom of 1st drop. Next trip a couple of weeks later the other side was done. It was just the rails,no track ties were done. Hoping it was in preperation of new paint job.
