Magnum brake

Does anyone know if the brake at the beginning of the pretzel turn-around has been turned off for good, because when I rode it Wednesday (6/19), it was off and I had so much more airtime on the bunny hills and the last half of the ride was so much better when it went faster?

They were running it this morning and all last week :(

You probably just caught it at a time when the crew was timing trains a bit slow with the trims on so they pulled them until maintenance came over to adjust them. Magnum isn't very high tech like that! :) The crew has to time the trains throughout the day and if they are too slow or too fast, call maintenance to adjust the trims. If it wasn't that, then you probably just caught it on a breezy day and they had them pulled. Also, they usually send the first few trains (usually not full) in the morning out with the trims pulled and pull them for the last train of the night or any train that is less than half full.

I do agree that Magnum is actually SMOOTHER with the trims off. For some reason, the trains glide through the pretzle so much better with them off. The return run is just wild and probably too much for some. The trims also help to avoid setups by giving the crew an extra few seconds to get a train out.

Cool, thanks for the info. I loved that ride. It was the best one I can remember in a long time.
the trims were pulled because the winds were too high. if we had the trims on, the trains were comming in at less then normal speeds and that could result in a roll back. eventually the trims were put back on after a maintance adjustment.
