I was just watching WKYC Channel 3 out of Cleveland said that Cedar Point has confirmed that Magnum has had an accident involving injuries.
Anything more?

Their website (WKYC) says CP has confirmed an accident with non-life threatening injuries.
Beat me to the link.

Wow. That totally sucks. Now all the news shows today will have the accident on instead of the opening of Maverick. :(
Friends visiting the park today have informed me that there has been a bump of Magnums trains. The incident happened at the transfer area of the ride. The damage to the trains involved has been covered with blue tarp.
Hopefully this is just a low speed bump and the injuries won't be too serious.

Anybody know what happened, I would really like to know. Inside sources, anybody?

What a crappy few months it's been for roller coaster safety.
Ugh.
I hope it was nothing serious...

"Hours ago, I witnessed the aftermath of a train collision at Cedar Point on Magnum. It looks like one train was in the brake run before the station, and the second train entered the same block and crashed into the train in the brake run. I watched the two boys in the back row walk off the ride, but it looked like they were hurt.
I think everyone will be okay. They are being checked out now."

If it was the final brake before the station, the train can't be going more than 10 mph when it comes into the brakes. The more uneasy question is... how did the last block (after the final tunnel) fail?

I remember reading somewhere on here that Magnum absolutely had to send the train off within a certain time frame or else risk a bump like that.
Hail to the Victors
I was thinking the same thing Josh. The reason they have blocks set up is so two trains won't bump into each other.
I'm just speculating here, but here are some potential reasons I can think of.
1. The rain and old brakes after the tunnel.
2. Operator error; of course I'm not sure if the computer would let you move two trains into the same block, but there has to be some sort of override.
3. A bad sensor led the computer to believe that the transfer block was empty.
I hope everyone is okay and not seriously injured (even at those low speeds injuries can happen), and that they can get Magnum back up and running safely very soon.
must have had something to do with the fact that it's sinking! ;)
From what I heard I think a compressor or something blew or quit working, therefore not braking the train coming out of the tunnel. I think it then proceeded to go into the block before the station where another train was. I didn't see anything that looked very serious (injury wise). CP had two of it's ambulances they drive through the park just parked there and the EMT's were just standing around.
