Magnum

Since the Magnum was built in 1989, was there any special effects on the ride that recently in 2000 or 2001 are not their now? I'm a huge point fan, and have been going their since birth, but I've only been alive since 1987 so I dont remember Magnum as a new ride! Thanks!

Well they had the strobes in the tunnels which they don't activate anymore and occasionally they do fill the tunnels with smoke...

Last year the tunnels were filled with smoke. At least for one of the weeks I was there.

GO SHAMROCKS!
GO WOLVERINES!
I remember the smoke, I would like to see some strobes or something this year.

We bought a lifetime supply of pudding? How wasted were we last night?!
*Dude, Where's my car?*
I thought the tracer lights going up the lift don't go anymore.
Did'nt they have to stop the chaser lights up the lift because it looked like a run-way for a plane?

I liked it better when they did chase up the hill, but at least there still are lights. I thought I remembered the strobes and fog working off and on for the past few years - like most special effects, not exactly regularly. Weren't there once strobes in all the tunnels, not just the final one?

Originally, the lights on the lift hill were a set of strobes that would chase up and down the lift...that is, one light would chase up the lift, for instance. I suspect that the lighting controller got struck by lightning one time too many, so the current chase-lights were installed.

Last year when I went there was fog in the last tunnel but no strobes. That would be a nice (re)addition to the ride!

"Your obssesed w/ that place aren't you?"
I remember that there used to be a siren in the last tunnel, along with fog and a strobelight.
The effects are still in there, but just rarely used.

Crady Crady!! CRADY CRADY!!
they weren't strobes, but they were a form of tracers. The sound in the last tunnel was a sort of a shooting of a laser sound.
Thats correct about the tracers......there are a few lights in there that make up the yellow tracers still working, but not enough to catch it when you go through the tunnel. As for the strobes in the other tunnels....and the shooting stars effect......"word" is that they burn out very frequently and its pretty pointless, and costly, to keep changing them all the time.
The sounds in the last tunnel. WOW I forgot about that !!
