Magnum 2nd season redesign

I heard somwhere that the Magnum was kind of redesigned after the first season. Something about one of the bunny hills being removed any truth to that? Better yet any photos of that?

I believe the redisign you're referring to is when they re-profiled the 3rd hill. It used to be very painful to slam back to the track after the insane airtime over that hill (remember, then the trains had upstop pads, not upstop wheels). I believe they raised it so that the drop wasn't as steep and they added trims there as well. There is a pic somewhere where you can see the original supports that held the track, but I'm too lazy to find it. Anyone else know where that is?

They had upstop pads? I would think that slowed the train down.

I think that the first season, if you were down by Magnum's bunny hills at night, you could witness a spark shower every time the train went over the hills becuase of the metal on metal action.

Yes it is true that you could see a spark shower. The pads were replaced with the wheels. Gettin back to hte third hill, it was reconfigured after the first year. This also resulted in the trims being moved from the top of the third hill to the bottom/reconfigured area. Some other additions to Magnum have been the padded seats, the seatbelts and now the gates and dispatch enable button in the station. Magnum has also had some things taken way from the ride, i.e. the special effects. Oh well, life goes on and we still have the ride, YAY :)

Besides the reprofiling of 3rd hill, the track leading up into the pretzel was changed. The 1st year it wasn't properly banked and provided hard laterals. Once it was banked,it went into it much smoother.
