MA is officially cedarfairs

ok, as of june 1 2001 michigans adventure is officialy cedar fairs(press release on cedar fairs website http://www.cedarfair.com/news/story.cfm?id=98 ,which makes me wonder if that means anything for cedar fair park season pass holders? it kind of seems like we might be given a gift in a way, if it is treated like any other cedarfair park.
and after comparing the dollar value of the deal to the cost of mf, i was amazed
anyone else wondering what all this might mean for us season pass holders?

Blue Streak Laps: 63~~45 in 1 day
wow, after reading the next news item at cedar fair website about weather affecting attendance, it sure doesnt take them long to include the newest parks in their ending to news items.and by the looks of their rules stated in season pass section of cp website,it looks as if we can use them there, now if we can only stop the rain by the time someone gets official word :)

*Dude, Where's my car?*
coastaman89, to answer your question. Shivering Timbers blows away the two wooden coasters at Cedar Point (I know that isnt saying much). If you like airtime you will love Shivering Timbers. It is about 1 hour from my house and I ride it often. I never get tired of it. It is a definate top 10 coaster and if you like airtime and wooden coasters you will love it.

MA also has a very good Mad Mouse coaster as well. It is a nice little park. As long as Cedar Fair doesnt start putting trims on ST (which I dont think they will) the aquisition will be a great thing. Not to mention they are adding a new steel coaster next year (confirmed). Hopefully it is a hyper. They certainly have the space for it.
If you've ever seen a cartoon where a character gets smacked about, and the rest of his body finally stops, but his eyeballs keep bouncing around, you have a fair idea of what it's like to ride Shivering Timbers. It's "camel-backed" all the way, so airtime is great. Add to that a good shaking, and the rider is literally ENGULFED by the ride experience.

It is definitely worth riding, as is the park's other 'coaster, Wolverine Wildcat. The Mad Mouse is one of the better rides of its type.

As CP Twister said, MA is a nice little park, which will, I assume, be growing under CF ownership. Actually, just getting to the park is kind of interesting. You go down several backroads, past a couple of residential sections, and MA suddenly appears. It is literally out in the open; in fact, a photo taken of ST from the parking lot shows it seemingly rising out of the prairie---sort of John Miller meets Frank Lloyd Wright.

There is also a waterpark, not as large as Soak City, but very nice. Last summer, the adult ticket (amusement park and water park admission)
was $20. The crowd seemed to be mostly day-trippers from the Muskegon area.

It will be interesting to see how much it grows as a CF property, and if the wide-open spaces around the park will be filled-in with businesses aimed at parkgoers. *** This post was edited by AKA_john_miller on 6/4/2001. ***
Yes, this year's pass.

Expansion in the area will be tricky. You've got a race track down Riley-Thompson (+ a rail road track easement), a golf course across the street, and the lone neighbor to deal with across the street. Some can be had along Whitehall Rd, though.

$20 admission this year, too.

I can't find any documents from my family's visit to MA last year, but I would bet you could find the number if you contact the Muskegon Chamber Of Commerce (it has a web site). Of course, you could always wife's advice: Just Call Directory Assistance. (She's always been more logical than I.)

Cedar Point Rules
When I was standing in line for Mean Streak during Coastermania, these two girls behind me were talking and said that Six Flags bought Michigan's Adventure and that the name would be changed to Six Flags Michigan's Adventure. I had to correct them because the thought of Six Flags owning another park to slap clones in made me shiver. (Yes, with pun intended along the lines of Shivering Timbers.) Yay for Cedar Fair!
