Now do you have to keep it a secret if he tells you what the ride is going to be or are you allowed to blab it out?

I have an eerie feeling that the lunch would have to be scheduled for after the announcement. Or that they could make you sign a non-disclosure agreement as part of the contest, basically saying they could sue you (for what, I don't know) if you disclose anything.

Well, considering that it will be in August in a Week and a Half, it may be announced prior to the lunch date. Or even better, you may be the first to know and then they'll announce it. That would be pretty cool. But considering that it's at Friday's, I doubt that would be the case.

Why, they could have the lunch at Friday's, he tells you, and then when its done, Monty can call the office and tell his secretary to fax the press release.

Maybe someone could ask him what the next big thing is after Project 2007!!!

Or Ask him to give you all of the ideas that they have to build.

Or, you could sensibly ask intelligent questions and just build a general rapport with him. You don't have to annoy him with a bunch of questions related to P2007.

I agree with Ben. Be happy you could learn things that everyone else doesn't know about the current rides.

And you don't have to limit it to rides at CP, since he's now the VP over maintenance and construction for all the CF parks.

What an exciting opportunity!

If I win it I know the only thing I would mention about 2007 would be a joking comment. I'm actually more interested in learning more about the systems that make maXair and Skyhawk work. As well as some things about LIMs and hydraulic launches.

They are right though. People don't have much time to write their letters. I think anyone could have a facinating lunch without even mentioning project 2007.

Um, sorry, the most recent comment on the OnPoint blog states that Monty will not reveal anything that could not be declared publicly. There goes that idea...

I bet he could go on for hours just about all the different problems they've had with TTD. ;)

I don't think I would bother him with the same questions he gets asked everyday. Whats the ride going to be? Whats wrong with TTD? etc... I'd ask about things we really don't know.. When do you start planning for a ride, what roles do you play from idea conception to the rides opening day? How did you get your job? Honestly, I can't think of a lot to ask him that I don't already know. If there is something I don't know, I can usually find out either by these very forums or by asking around.

I'm leaving this one for the others to do. I wouldn't know what to ask him, and the lunch would be full of awkward silence. My friend probably wouldn't look at me the same either.

I can answer that one for you. You won't see major coasters come to MiA. Big giant coasters cost lots of money, and the park simply doesn't do enough business to warrant spending that sort of money. Grand Rapids is an awesome addition for this year, and the most expensive in the park history, I believe. Be happy with that. Also, be happy that you have one incredible wooden coaster. That's something that Cedar Point can't even claim.
