My wife and daugther are there with my son and a couple of his friends. I am heading out after work. Will be interesting to see the new show. I never watched any of the other shows other than as I walked by them. Will also be intersting to see how long it takes until people realize there is a new show there. Presumably they will be advertising it a lot in the park.

I saw the preview last night and I was very impressed. It's a slick production, high energy and lots of fun. Saw lots of smiles on the faces of the crowd. At the end of the show, the DJ booth raised up and the show transitioned seamlessly to the dance party. Lots of people dancing and really enjoying themselves, including one point where it seemed like the entire midway was doing a big line dance. I think this will be even more impressive when they get the entire Main Midway going with the DJ booth on the balcony of the Coliseum, last night the party was limited to Celebration Plaza. Also, the Beer Garden was not open yet, that will add another dimension to the nighttime festivities.

I think this will be a home run for Cedar Point. People will leave the park after really enjoying themselves in a high energy, party atmosphere. This will go a long way in leaving a positive impression of having fun at Cedar Point and creating the desire to come back.

This is really a fresh way of thinking, and if this is the type of influence Ouimet will have on the park, I can't wait to see what comes next. High impact show, contemporary music, dance party, beer garden, party atmosphere. Watching the show last night, the one predominant thought I had was that "this would never have happened if Kinzel was still in charge". And I mean that in the most positive way.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

It was mentioned during the presentation that there will be a guy on a motorcycle that rides out, did they ditch that idea? I haven't seen or heard anything about it.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

It appears Cedar Point finall got that night club everyone was wishing for a few years back.

Oh my goodness! Based on the preview this will be amazing. Way better than my previous favorite music related thing at the point, which was the Red Garter show a couple years ago where the lead female singer belted out "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence.

I really can't wait to get back there and experience it first hand. Kudos to all involved with the concept and performance!

I predict stalker-groupies by the end of the week, if they don't already exist.

So, anyone have any more details on the timing of everything? It's still vague on CP's website.

Does the show start right at 10PM (it just says night)?

How long does the Luminosity portion last?

How late is the dance party going until, or does it vary by demand?

This should be a good addition to the Point. I was a bit worried people wouldn't stand around and watch it, at least initially, but it appears to be drawing quite the crowd already.

Show starts at 9:15. I don't know if they plan to do it later for later closings.

Strong dislike for the start time.

My favorite times for coasters are at dark, and that usually coincides with the shortest lines outside of EE and best chance to get lots of rides in.

But I guess I could give that up once or twice. It's just not something I would go do on a repeated basis, but that's probably not the intent of it anyway.

Oh wow; that's earlier than I was expecting. I now see on the website that Luminosity is a 25 minute show.

I arrived at Cedar Point last night at 10PM just for the hour of bonus Magnum / TTD ride time, and when I was exiting the park, I was surprised to still be hearing the dance music at around 11:25PM.

So, that means that the dance party is possibly continuing on for 1.5-2 hours? Impressive.

I won't be able to make it up there today for the grand showing. I am however planning on coming on Monday though.

I can't wait to check it out!

Favorite coaster: Millennium Force
Favorite flat: maXair

I'll be there tomorrow. I'll probably want to ride some coasters during that time but I might stop by for at least part of it to see how it is.

I was at the grand opening this evening! Overall, I thought the show was pretty good. I wasn't blown away (it felt worthy of a B+), but Luminosity is definitely a step above CP's past attempts at live entertainment.

The production value is pretty awesome. The lights and pyrotechnics are probably the best part. The stage is great, too (although not quite as big as it looked in pictures). The sound and video is an excellent touch as well. The fireworks at the show's end are a nice treat.

The human performers, however, leave something to be desired... I'll admit they sounded a bit better live than they did on the YouTube videos we've seen so far. Nevertheless, there are still some bad eggs. The choreography, though is probably what disappointed me the most. It's boring and doesn't match the tremendous energy of the lights, sound, etc.! Even the cirque performers seemed sort of lame IMO. And for anyone who's seen the show, what on earth is with that segment when everyone on stage is running around with inflatable dolphins?! Haha... I was also not a fan of how the performers basically disappear just before the fireworks and never return for a curtain call.

I hope Luminosity is a success. It's a great concept. While the current show has some issues, they're nothing that can't be fixed over the next few seasons.

So what would you have done?

Hired randy Jackson to find the best dance crews in Ohio, a few video models, and Kenny Ortega to choreograph the whole thing...

It was nice last night walking out of the park at 10:30 and seeing people dancing in the midway and tapping their feet sitting on benches to the music and little kids chasing the spinning lights on the ground. At lot of fun and energy at close.

Love the water drums and cirque dancers. that looks really neat
