Nope, it is a natural peninsula.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
The man made land bridge replaces a road that was on a natural land bridge that was washed out during a storm in the early 1900's. Originally the entrance continued along the lake into Sheldon's Marsh. The only break in the land there now is just enough to get into the docks behind the big white condos on Cedar Point Rd.

CP is actually a peninsula and the "other side" you are seeing is probably Pelee Island, I don't think you can see the Canadian mainland from CP.
Yes you can. You can see it on MF on a clear day.

You can also see it from the top of Power Tower if you are facing the right direction.
Cedar Point guest since 1974
The conditions to see the Canadian mainland would have to be perfect, the tip of the mainland is slightly over 30 miles away which at about 300' is close to the horizon due to the curvature of the earth. People that have told me they saw Canada were looking straight ahead on MF first hill. The problem there is that the hill faces northwest towards Johnson Island and then Marblehead beyond that. If you can still see something beyond Marblehead it would be one of the Bass Islands - Put-in-Bay etc...
In order to see Canada you have to look to your right, you would see Kelly's Island, beyond that is Pelee Island Canada, and beyond that would be the closest part of the Canadian mainland - Pt. Pelee.
I have heard people say that standing on the beach looking out over the water you cannot see land so that makes it an ocean. If it was a lake you could see the land on the other side.
I have also heard them call Sandusky Bay, Lake Erie because you can see land on the other side. So that makes the water on the other side of the park an ocean. (I kid you not!)
Well there's a reason they call them the Great Lakes, because they're huge and you can't see the other side. I say to them get out the elementary social studies book and despite the fact that they have added the "Southern Ocean" recently you will still not see Erie listed as an ocean.
My husband brought a former girlfriend from way southern WV up to visit his family before he met me and she was not impressed with Lake Erie because she thought it would be bigger. She didn't seem to understand that she couldn't see the whole thing at once. She thought that what she saw there from the beach was all of it. I bet if she ever gets to the ocean she'll be really disappointed.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone heard this song in Frontier town? Just thought this song would be Ideal for back there since most of the shots they showed were of Maverick in the video.
