It's been there 7 years. It isn't gong anywhere.
Cables wear out and snap. Well designed rides are made for this to happen without putting anyone on the ride in danger or causing any damage to the ride.
They'll replace the cable and Skyhawk will be back up and running within a couple days.
Goodbye MrScott
John
I was there last night for TTD ERT (love these three letter acronyms) and overheard someone on line for TTD said they were in line when something "exploded" on Skyhawk. They even eluded to a few people were hurt, not sure how true it is. But when I arrived at the park around 7:45 pm last night Cedar Point Fire and Police were responding to something (I park in the back of the park by Gemini).
So not sure what happened, hopefully no one was hurt, hopefully they can get this figured out, Skyhawk is awesome! Only thing that sucks about the ride is that it is too short!!
Ride on!!
Whether the ride is safe or not when the cable snapped because of back ups, that had to be terrifying for those that were on it. I saw the people that the cops were talking to. They all looked like teenagers.
Believe it or not, most people don't have full knowledge of how coasters or thrill rides work. The riders who were on it probably thought that they were about to die. I'm sure it was very traumatic for them, and they could be scarred for life.
Even though they may have not been physically hurt, mentally they could be. So no, I don't think it's far fetched for them to want it to be tore down.
I know I won't get on it again. I understand that accidents happen, but twice in 2 months? No thank you.
