I grew up in Toledo and went to CP all the time as a kid and had a season pass every year, but having moved to Maryand in 2004, the frequency of my visits has gone way down as an adult. I'm very excited to be going next week for the first time since 2015 with my husband, 10-year-old, and 5-year-old. Our plan is to drive out Friday after work (6.5 hours), arrive at the Cedar Point Express hotel, and then we have Saturday, Sunday, and Monday free. We also will have some time Tuesday morning before leaving to drive back home in the afternoon. We have gold passes for the adults and 10-year-old and a pre-k pass for the 5-year old (who is under 48" tall, womp womp). We also have FLP for one day (bought on cyber Monday back in 2019). We plan to go to CP and Soak City (sorry, I just can't bring myself to call it Cedar Point Shores) and we'd like to dedicate a day for Put in Bay, too.
Our current thinking is to do CP on Saturday starting first thing in the morning but not use our FLP -- explore, go on things without long lines (do rides like Magnum and Gemini and Iron Dragon and such still have no/short lines on Saturdays?), and go to the water park at some point in the afternoon for a while, come back to CP again in the evening. Then, Sunday we'd hit up Put in Bay, and Monday we'd use our FLP and try to get in the longer line rides (we'd use the parent rider swap, too). Tuesday morning we'd do whatever seemed fun but not stress about getting on things with long lines.
Anything I'm forgetting about? I'm beyond excited!
Overall that seems like a valid strategy. Though I would just avoid the dry park completely on Saturday. (Weather dependent).
If the water slides are your thing the best time to go is early. By noon or even earlier the slide lines are just to long for us and we just do the lazy rivers, eat then hit the dry park in the afternoon. Getting chairs is unlikely after 11:30-12 but you can find a patch of grass for home base.
Try to do as much coaster riding Saturday as early as possible. Pretty much everything will have long lines after noon. I was there today (Sunday) and the line for Iron Dragon was out into the midway! I've heard the past couple Saturdays have been extremely crowded.

We could go to Put in Bay Saturday instead and have Sunday and Monday both full days for CP/Soak City. I have to admit, though, it would be hard to have driven 6.5 hours and be soveryclose to CP and not go right away! I know Saturday is the craziest day at CP though.

Wow, that's crazy for Iron Dragon!
I'm hopeful that the fact that Ohio schools are back in session helps lessen the crowds (although I would suspect that Saturday will be crazy regardless).
