Looking for hotel advice

Hey Everyone

Looking to plan a trip to Cedar Pt in August this year for my family of four. Kids are aged 14 and 15.

Our biggest reason is the park itself, as we are all pretty roller coaster crazy and do plan to get fast passes for one of the days that we are there.

Wondering if anyone had any recommendations on the best place to stay - is it Hotel Breakers? Is Castaway Bay too much for the younger crowd? Trying to be resourceful to save some money at the same time as all these items will add up over the trip.

Either planning to stay for 3 or 4 nights, haven't figured that one yet. Would like to visit the Cedar Park Shores one of the days for the waterpark.

Also wondering best options for tickets are. Is the season-pass the way to go? Is the Stay+Play packages better off at the hotels? In other experiences, what have worked best for people? Any promo/discount codes that work?

I've been doing some research and there is a lot to digest so hoping to get some feedback to help sway my decisions. Thanks in advance!

I'll echo DJ with Breakers and Lighthouse Point cottages; both are great for different reasons but if this was a first-visit (or once in a long time) I would probably go with Breakers; having open access to the beautiful beach on Lake Erie is pretty amazing, and sitting outside by the open firepits at night is incredibly relaxing. Usually lots of other travelers and guests to talk to out there as well. Yes it's pricey, but it will be an experience that is well worth it.

If you're going to be at the park 4 days I would get the Gold Pass; it you want to visit any other Six Flags (god that was weird to type) park over the summer the "all park" add on is only $84. And staying on property you already get early entry, so no need to go beyond gold. We've been season pass holders for so long I'm not sure if a "stay and play package" is better but a quick call to the hotel desk will tell you that.

Castaway Bay is 100% geared toward a younger crowd as the waterpark doesn't really have anything thrilling at all.

The one thing I would recommend is the all-day dining bands. They are only $35 each and you can get a new meal every 90 minutes. We are a family of 4 and we get two each day, and we are all beyond satisfied with the amount of food you get throughout the day. Waterpark has some unique options as well. Eating all you can for $70 a day between 4 people is hard to beat. At first it might not seem like enough but by the time you are on meal #5 you will see why this is a great idea. Also Cedar Point's food overall has gone from pretty dull to pretty decent in recent years. If you DO get a gold pass you can also slap on an all-season drink plan on just one of them...new drink every 15 minutes. More than enough for everyone.

Happy to help.

Staying on site is the best. Cool down on a hot day, stay dry if it rains, get in early, stay till close and not have to drive. Highly recommend.

As far as lodging goes, it's hard to beat Breakers or a cabin/cottage at Lighthouse Point if it can fit within the budget and otherwise meets your needs as a family. Staying in close proximity makes it easy to take breaks during the day, which you'll probably need over the course of a few days.
