looking for advice!

Hi CP fans
My boyfriend and I are from New Jersey and we just booked a trip to CP for Aug. 24-26 in the Hotel Breakers (we saw three rollercoasters on the Discovery Channel the other night and decided we have to check it out!).
Do you guys think if we get there early Friday and have til Sunday night, we will have enough time to ride all the good stuff? (I noticed the hours of the parks are shorter that weekend... it closes at 8, I think... why?)
Also, is the water park worth our time or should we just devote Friday and Sat. to the dry park?
Thanks for your help/tips!

You'll have plenty of time to ride everything you wish.....
You are picking a great time of year to go. That is referred to as "Hell Week" amongst the staff. Lot's of employees go back to school but they always manage to keep the rides fully staffed.

You shouldn't have any trouble at all. Did you buy the hotel package? Usually well worth it.
That is one of the best times to go. Crowds are usually light and you should have no problem to see everything you want.
The package that Chief Wahoo refers to is listed both in CP's Getaway Guide (call 1-800-BEST-FUN to get yours) and on their website
http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/trips/main/resorts/packages.cfm .

In short, for about 90 bucks over and above your room price, you get:

2 one-day park tickets
2 starlight tickets
$30 in Cedar Point money to be used anywhere on food
4 tickets for either mini-golf or race cars

Pretty good deal.

Hey guys, I'm back!
Hey everyone...
Wow -- you guys are experts on this place.
Thanks so much for the feedback already!
Yes -- I did get that package deal including the admission to the park and all that...
one thing I can't figure out is -- what are starlight tickets??
Starlight tickets let you in for the last half of the day -- after 4pm when the park closes at 8pm, or after 5pm when it closes at 10pm. So you get in for a few hours at least, and at that time of year you'll be able to do a lot in just those few hours!

To save a bit more cash... Use the starlight tickets for Aug 24.

Then instead of each of you using a one-day ticket on the 25th and having to buy two more for the 26th, buy a 2-day ticket (cheaper). One of you can use the 2-day and the other will use the 2 one-day tickets.

By the way, call for the Getaway Guide. You'll save decent $$ on the 2-day ticket, among other things.

Duane,

Good advice on that one. Having worked there I am embarassed that I didn't come up with it.
