Live Entertainment 2003

Having worked in shows the last two summers, I was wondering how they are this year now that they are for the most part running. This summer I am working at a theatre in Kansas so I won't be able to see any of them. Would love to hear how they are going and how they compare to past years... Thanks :)

2002 - Hooray For Hollywood: The Sequel

I'm disappointed that several of the shows (notably Heart of Rock and Roll and Snoopy Rocks on Ice) basically didn't change at all year-to-year.

The talent is very good, as usual. However, as a season pass holder, I see the shows a dozen times or more during the season.

It's nice to see many of the singers, musicians and skaters back again this year - they're great performers! I just wish they had some new material to do (and if I'M tired of the same show, they must be, uh, "ecstatic" to return and do the same thing another couple hundred times... LOL.)

Hey, I heard a rumor that Millenium Force is sinking...

after two seasons, that was a large part of why i couldn't go back ;) But nonetheless 2 really great summers!

On a more positive note, the "StarStruck" show is completely new (much different than last year's Hooray For Hollywood II). It's a great "high energy" show and my kids love sitting in the front row for the "surprise" at the end :-)

America Rocks is excellent as always. I'd stack the overall talent of this year's group with any other! (Hint, they deserve another award...) Although portions of the show are the same, much is different (I LIKE that "trashy woman"!)

Splash 2003 is also completely different from last year, and quite enjoyable (our favorite show, and a "must see" for the kids every time we go to CP). FWIW, you couldn't pay me enough to do the stunts Jimmy does on the board (ouch!) Also, you couldn't pay me enough to do the high dive at the end (I'd probably miss the pool.)

Speaking of Splash 2003, does anyone know if they'll be bringing in a "guest diver" like they did before? (Orlando Duque, cliff diving champion!) PLEASE, Cedar Point, bring someone like him back & publicize it a little better so we can make plans to bring all of our friends!

Hey, I heard a rumor that Millenium Force is sinking...

Kind of strange how Knotts got a brand new Ice skating show, "The world According to Snoopy", and CP isn't running the same show like they did last summer.

I saw Starstruck tonight, really great show. Excellent choreography and good music. A very high energy show that's fun to watch, and showcases some of the excellent talent that CP has.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Hey LiveEDavid, I know this is a little off-topic, but what theater company are you working with?
I live in NC now, but used to live in Topeka, KS. I did a lot of theater there with the Topeka Civic Theater! Just wondering if you had heard of them.

Snoopy rocks on ice opened later in the season last year, and my mom was unable to see it, eventhough she really wanted too. It opened the week after we were there. This may be the reason why the shows didnt change.
This summer I'm working for the Music Theatre of Wichita. We're doing five shows, the first two which are already done. Haveing a great time, but miss riding the coasters at CP ;)

I really haven't gotten to see all the shows yet, but i love starstruck....The music is great and the performers do an awesome job each time. Though there is one girl who kinda stands out from all the others, she doesn't really have that stronge of a voice as the rest, but still does a good job.Of course, i haven't had any time to see anything else yet cuz i've been working alot, but i heard snoopy rocks on ice wasn't that great. I watched starstruck twice already, but i'm hoping to get in all the other shows.

I uploaded some photos from StarStruck earlier today. My wife and I saw the show on Saturday and we both thought it was pretty good.

But, honestly, bring back the Beach Band!

Is Starstruck in the same theater that Hooray for Hollywood was in?
I have seen all the shows that CP has to offer this year. In my opinion this is how the shows rank as far as enjoyability and talent:

1. Snoopy Rocks on Ice! Even though this is the same show as last year, it is even better this year. The Performers are really into it and it is well worth watching over and over again! (I have been to this show 3 times so far this summer.)

2. StarStruck. Three words: Wow! Wow! Wow! If you thought Hooray for Hollywood was good, you'll get your socks knocked off by this one! Great show! My favorite parts are the Jackson 5, Pink, and the dancing of the Nsync song. I can't say enough about this show. The only thing that i didn't enjoy out of the whole show and what made this my number two choice was the bad singing of one gentleman who sings Jailhouse Rock at around the begining of the show.(3rd song) He really puts shame to Elvis. Someone please tell him to sing the song not SCREAM the song. Other than that, WOW! Awesome! (I have been to this show 4 times)

3. America Rocks. Good Job! Great sound from the band and nice vocals. Good touch with the fog shooting out from the top corners of the stage. (maybe a little less fog on at times) This show definetly needs a larger stage for the performers to work with. They do an awesome job with what they have though! (I have seen this show twice)

4. Heart of Rock and Roll. Same as last year. Don't get me wrong. Last years show was great, but it just didn't strike me much interest this time. Great idea with the band and performer interacting more. (I have seen this show twice.)

5. Splash. I have never really been a fan of this show. It is very talented, but kinda boring. Kudos to all the divers! You show great skill. Perhaps if another script was written for this show. It needs a face lift. (I have been to this show twice)

6. Snoopy's Summer Spectacular. This show is still awesome. But it never seems to change much. It really needs more pyrotechnics. It is just begging for more fireworks! (I have seen this show once this year)

Overall, I would say that the shows this year and the performers this year are quite possibly the best ever. Great job at picking these performers CP! Looking foward to seeing the line-up next year!
