That seems to be the one everyone links to around here. I found that by searching this:

Man, no wonder PX numbers have been up lately! ;)
We try to keep up with changing playlists on the midways, but we often forget about our pencil and paper and keeping track of songs shortly after getting into the park. I know I only ever manage to remember one or two songs by the time I leave the park, and the next day they are forgotten. I am hoping to get a decent list of the Halloweekends music though.
Also, they have switched around some of the playlists in regards to what songs are on each midway a bit from last year. Some songs on the list aren't played this year, others are still there, but in a different part of the park. I think I've heard Funkytown once this season, and that was at the front of the park. Las year I had only heard it back on the Gemini midway.
Wow, I just wrote a mini-essay on the subject. *** Edited 8/30/2006 2:26:59 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

You mean the Frontiertown music playing in Camp Snoopy, and HalloWeekends music that was playing by Magnum when I was there the other day... ;)

Have you noticed how erratic the speakers at maXair have been all year (of course I'd notice, that's where my days are spent :) )? I'm also hoping they figured out that Monster Mash was skipping for the entire song over at maXair last season. It was kinda annoying hearing Monster Mash skipping all day on Labor Day last year.

Yeah I have noticed the problem by maXair, although it seems it has gotten better. When I was in line Saturday there were no problems.

Frankly, I think it's extremely annoying to be hearing songs from the HalloWeekends playlist prior to HalloWeekends.
wwrgsww, I hadn't realized that, but I'm not sure, off the top of my head, who the artist was or what the song was.

I really hope that they aren't using iTunes to randomize the songs, because I usually hear Summertime Blues at least three to five times an hour back on the Trail and in Town, if not more. That alone leads me to believe they use iTunes...and if they don't, then I'm amazed, because they found something that is worse than iTunes at randomizing.
It was mainly Monster Mash and Thriller, with One-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying Purple People Eater thrown in once or twice that I heard on Labor Day. I only heard Thriller a couple of times the rest of the day throughout the park. *** Edited 8/30/2006 3:16:01 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***

Trust me.. they are not using iTunes.

Well then, I applaud them on finding something much worse at randomizing songs. I would really like to know what they use to randomize the songs, because it does a really crappy job, and I want to make sure it isn't used at my church or the school.

The one on chaos is like that too. I am not sure if they play the same music at the same time but it had some major bass problems as well as major skipping.

the music over by maXair isn't supposed to be randomized. it's coming from the speakers at johnny rocket's, which is based on the jukebox. that's why certain songs get played so much. also, the music on the midway certainly isn't randomized. you can pretty well set your watch to it.

They need to make the jukebox so that it can't play the same song twice in 45 minutes then. ;) But seriously, what was up then when it played halfway through a song, cut out for a few seconds, went to another song, and does that at least two more times? I've never known a jukebox that changes the song that is playing in the middle of a song. And if the midway lists aren't randomized, then they need to a) get more songs for the Trail and Town, or b) set up the playlist a little better back there. You will hear Summertime Blues about 5 times in an hour in my experience. And no, that is't an exageration, I have heard it at least 5 times in an hour, sometimes more often than that more than two times.

What happens is that the Johnny Rockets music plays, and when someone puts money into a machine and selects a song, it immediately jumps to the chosen song.

So then there is a computer playlist in the event the jukebox isn't used for a while?

I'm not sure how that part of it is run, I just know that the one over-rides the other.

You have to remember something about park music. There are multiple feeds in alot of places. When you complain you hear the same song multiple times a day, you may be hearing the same song from a different source. It's not the same songs playing over and over off of the same audio source.
The system is actually pretty amazing once you know how it works...

Have unique playlists for each area then (don't they already). My "complaint" with Summertime Blues wasn't that I was hearing it multiple times during the day throughout the park, its that whenever I walk from Frontier Town to MF I can hear the song at least twice, and then I usually hear it more than that in about 45 minutes back in Town. I'm sure it is a fascinating system, and I know it is a minor thing, but surely it wouldn't be that hard for them to make unique playlists for the midways and keep the feeds seperate.
I guess this is something that I would notice since I'm a music nut and a tech nut as well. It probably doesn't really bother many other people, but still... *** Edited 9/1/2006 2:30:53 AM UTC by BlueStreak64***
