LIGHTNING AND TTD or rideing old sparky

i suppose they will close down TTD if it gets stormy whats the park policy on that??

When theres lightning anything that could be affected my lighting closes. Since TTD is so tall, it will close if there is any local lighting.

If there isn't any lighting they will close it if the weather gets severe enough.

Cedar Point uses a lightning prediction and detection system.

Knowing that Dragster is now the tallest lightning rod in the park, I kind of wonder if they're gonna put an antenna up there for the detection system....!

I know mf and breakers tower have a lightning rod type devise that draws lightning from the area to that. Next time you go see the park look for the gold ball on the top of those two places.

If I remember right, rides go down if lightning is within 10 miles of the park.

I would think, being TTD is the tallest thing in the park, that they would also close it if some fairly strong winds come. I'm sure that winds that wouldn't close most coasters, would close TTD.
I don't know about high winds because they don't pose a threat to structural integrity. It doesn’t matter how tall it is it's how much surface area the wind is exposed to. I guess there is a possibility that the wind could blow the train back over the top hat, maybe, but I don't see that happening.

High winds would cause more wind resistance and would slow down the train. If a coaster train gets slowed down too much it will valley. And on TTD its kind of hard to get that to valley. But I'm sure if the winds were exremely strong they might close it.

They would close it because if there is high winds, it has a chance to slow the train down and cause it to roll back. Same goes for all coasters.

Rolling back is not so much an issue on TTD as it is w/ say MF. It's happened on Xcellerator and it will probably happen w/ TTD. The nice thing about TTD is, no matter which way it's forced to go over your not going to have to take the train of the trach piece by piece to get the ride operational again.

Thanks for the responces to my thread . Watching a T storm from TTD is not what I would call one of my most important things to do .
thx to all.
