Lighthouse Point Cabins booked until SEPTEMBER.

Called for a cabin last night, they are booked until September. I haven't stayed anywhere else at the point other than there, what are everyones opinions on Breakers and the other hotel, Sandcastle Suits I think...

Not surprised. I already booked closing weekend. I guess it's no surprise that the part of next year's cap-ex we know about is expansion of Lighthouse Point.

I wasn't like this last year at all. We called like a week before we went, and got a cabin. It was end of June-beginning of July too (when the power outage was) Also, how close to the Challenge Park entrance is Breakers?
Breakers is great i think its better that lighthouse point, but if your going to stay at breakers i recommend a suit, but the regular rooms are great to.

Breakers is well within walking distance to challenge park entrance. I'd say 5 minuites walking briskly.

I think that those of you expecting something huge and cool will be disappointed. There isn't a single logical reason to pour a footer and enclose it in an ugly wall for six months.

ive never really heard all that much about Sandcastle Suites, does anyone have any opinions or facts or anything on this?

Walking? Walking is for the weak! I have to start my training now for a run from the hotel to the entrance, then to Dragster. :)

The Sandcastle rooms, while older, are generally set up like the suites in Breakers East and Breakers Tower. The hotel is much quieter than Breakers probably because there are less things to do (ie arcade, restaurants, etc).

For a couple or for an older group I would recommend Sandcastle over Breakers. Of course, you can go to Breakers and partake of their restaurants but it is a little more subdued. For parents with young kids I recommend Breakers.

Proximity to the park is really a non-issue since there are free courtesy busses to take you to various park entrances.

We stayed at Sandcastle May 16-18. Since I had always lived a few miles from the park, this was my first time ever staying at a Cedar Point resort.

Pro: The view was great. We had a 3rd floor room with a pool/lake view. It was also very quiet, like Chief Wahoo said ... even more so since there were not many people staying there that weekend. We thought it was peaceful and relaxing, especially sitting on the balcony.

Con: We were less than impressed with the room itself. There were two televisions (circa 1980). Both looked like they should have been in the Town Hall Museum. The "pano-fold" separating the two rooms didn't exactly scream luxury. It was a very average room ... which is fine, but I was expecting a suite.

I got the "Days Inn" feel from the room itself (not taking into account the balcony, view, and outside amenities), when I was expecting a "Marriott" feel. Even though the atmosphere was wonderful, I doubt we would stay there again.

Thanks for the tips, and reviews of the rooms, looks like we might stay at the Great Bear Lodge now, which I know nothing about. I don't even know where it is. If we stay there, I'm going to miss the early entry. :(

If I were you, I'd consider the Breakers. I got a good tip recently that the family suites at the Breakers are very nice.

You'll pay an arm and a leg at Great Bear. Even with my "complaints" about Sandcastle, I think it would be a better choice - given the cost, proximity to the park, atmosphere, amenities ... and since your goal is a Cedar Point vacation. Great Bear is more a destination resort than a place to stay for the night.

Check out the Breakers page at CedarPoint.com and see if that might be a good fit.
