Lighthouse Point

I just booked Lighthouse Point for Opening Weekend. It looks like the Coasters & Rides will be open, but the Live E doesn't start til later. I'll bet the ride ops will be trying to figure things out in May, too. It should be a nice trip! :)

How "up to speed" is the park in early/mid May?

We haven't had any problems coming early in the year at Opening. Some of the smaller lesser rides aren't open but the smaller crowds are worth it.
MrScott - CP is pretty good about being "up to speed" every day throughout the operating season so you shouldn't worry about any rides laying in pieces and not being open or anything like that. I think you are right about Live E not starting until June, but as far as rides and even foods and merchandise go, pretty much everything is the same as mid summer.

Some of the things that might not be up for opening day are little things like the "world's greatest amusement park" banners at the front of the park and at the toolbooths and a lot of the flowers along the main midway will not have been planted yet because of cool temperatures.

Last opening day, I'm pretty sure everything, right down to all the flat rides, was open. The only things that were disappointing to me last opening day was the missing third train on Millennium Force, and the state of the Magnum trains. Whoever put them together did a poor job and by the end of the day, literally half of the seats were roped off due to inoperable lapbars. A couple rides broke down during the course of the day, but it was the usual CP way of getting them back up and running in minimal time. I was expecting that crews would be slow and lines would not move as they normally do, but I came away very impressed with how things ran.
