Does anyone else think the light show on MF looks great? I love how in the evening it goes from color to color but when its lat at night they actually have strobes on the tower. Is there any other part of the show they have different nights? Or is it always the same?

Actually, I think the lights on MF were pretty weak this season compared to the past 3 years. I'm not sure if it's only a difference of perception with Dragster's lights being so bright or that they actually are dimmer, but it seems to me you used to be able to see MF's changing colors from the causeway, Battery Park, etc. It still looks cool from perimeter road and from close by, but it doesn't knock your socks off like it did a few years ago.

It's possible they could have the weather seal problem again.

Back in 2000, you may recall that mid-season the lights became very dim, and the impact of them was seriously reduced. I talked to a rep from the lighting manufacturer that fall at IAAPA who indicated that the rubber seals in the enclosures were not cured correctly, and were vaporizing under the heat of the lamps. That vapor had nowhere to go, so it started to solidify on the inside of the lens and therefore block the light. The manufacturer helped fix the problem.

Whether the problem is what Jeff said or not, I would agree that the lights are considerably dimmer than previous years. Its kind of hard to make it out even from the causeway now...

They may also dim them, so the TTD tower stands out more...

Hmm... I finally got to see MF's lights at night for the first time this spring. They looked very wild then. So I really don't know what to compare them to from past years.

I talked to a HighEnd employee in Austin and he said they were still having problems with the weather seal on the EC-1's. He didn't really know know about them being dimmed, but the lighting program has not been drastically changed since installed. About the Power Tower lights, the park may have to install a new controller to get them to their former glory, but that is probably not a high priority in the budget.

I have always been able to see them on the causeway. The other night, my wife and I could even see them from the edison bridge on our way home. It was very clear that night though.

For the first time on Closing Day I saw the MF light show. I was stunned to see how cool it looked. Dragster's spotlights were also stunning.
