Light Crowds or Good Capacity?

What was the deal yesterday....I mean you would think with a new coaster (even though its not full-circuit) that there would be larger crowds on opening day?....Were the crowds normal, and if so were crews just having really good capacity because from what ive heard about MF and Magnum that wasnt the case?...

I found it to be an average opening day. I didn't hear any numbers or see the parking lot, but I'm guessing in the 20-30k range. I also think that overall park capacity is starting to show its effects, as a lap around the park revealed different long lines every time.

The parking lot seemed pretty packed and there were tons of buses for a Sunday. I noticed that the midways were very cworwed, maybe people were just enjoying the atmosphere of the park and taking fewer rides than usual. CP would be the place to do that. It was so nice to take a few laps arond the park.

I account some of the non-riding to post-promitis. I saw some of my volleyball club's kids out there, and you bet they were fried by early afternoon.

I call the crowds average. The cars were parked solid past row 33 in the main lot which was about your average weekday in June or July last year.

The longest lines looked like MF and Magnum later in the day because of the poor capacity. The Odd thing was WT had the same or better capacity than MF (Millie gets about 900 with 2 trains ) which is probably why the line looked a bit shorter for it.

This was my first opening day and I thought it would be busier, but the lot did look deceivingly full. I was happy with the crowd size, we got to ride what we wanted with little waiting.
A big difference from a comparable day later in the season is that the back parking lots were practically empty. So the crowd was slightly smaller than the main parking lot would indicate.

Interesting thing about Wicked Twister is that it took a very long time for the crowd to get there. I suspect it's because the traffic pattern hasn't changed...people now have a reason to go to the Oceana midway, but apparently it isn't compelling enough to make them rush there first.
