Jugga - That's not right. As we've discussed on several occasions, LSMs act as brakes. So, with a power loss, they will hold a train in place. That was also confirmed in the IntaRide/Intamin article on funworld news or something like that. I'm too lazy to search for the link right now though. LOL!!
side note: That powderkeg coaster looks awesome. Not sure why I've never seen that before. Great concept though. Ugly trains, but oh well. Can't have it all. ha ha!!
I really don't think that the LSMs will hold, slow, stop, or move anything unless there's power applied to them.
(And I don't see what you're 'LOL'ing at, halltd. You didn't say anything funny at all. "LOL!!")
uh, it could've been that I said I was too lazy to look for a link? You should've asked Leslie what she was "LMAO" at because she didn't even say anything. (Nothing new there though :) .)
The LSM on the track is an Electro-Magnet, without power it's a piece of metal that really just sits there.. If the power goes out there is nothing stopping the train from rolling back, they will certainly have some anti-roll back device on the lift.

Ok, I guess I'll have to be not lazy now and find the quote.
Quote by IntaRide president Sandor Kernacs:
“Each has its advantages and disadvantages,” explains Kernacs. “The LSM coaster is a more complex design and requires more sensitive sensors, but it produces twice the force as the LIM for the same amount of energy, and you don’t need brakes because the LSM system acts as the brakes. The LIM is easier to design and maintain, but it only produces half the torque, and you must have an anti-rollback system because the LIMs will not brake. Eventually, I believe the LSM coasters will be favored over LIM coasters because of their higher efficiency.” *** Edited 9/16/2006 3:43:06 AM UTC by halltd***
I guess there more complicated then I thought...

What about most coaster track in one park? What about most operating coasters in one park? Those could be records.

Relax dude I was just contributing to what might be it's only saving grace. So, what coaster has a longer than 400' tunnel?

And since when is a record a "saving grace"?
I'm perfectly happy with coasters that don't break records. (or, wood coasters named the Voyage, but that's another story altogether.)
The only record being broken here is Cedar Points track record of breaking records. Which was already broken by iron dragon.

^Honestly, who cares?
You must because you're constantly in here crapping on other people's discussions. If it really didn't matter to you that people talked about records or not, then you'd be bothering other people in some other discussion.

You misinterpreted me, I was talking specifically to this discussion, not to records in general. Coasters that don't break records can still be great, as I've said this one will, and as do a bunch of other coasters at CP.
