We were there on LBJ day, not intentionally but met friends from out of town and had the plans for months. Other than the park being busy (like any day the week before school starts up), we didn't experience anything else out of the ordinary. You can always find ignorant people at CP on any given day, and we didn't experience first hand any one in "yellow shirts" acting inappropriately. In any case, we had an awesome day and called it a night when the gnats invaded the peninsula. Sorry you had a bad experience!
The LBJ groups are usually family groups from my experience that seem to appreciate being able to go to the park and are mostly respectful and we'll behaved. That is totally different from the situation at Put-In-Bay that some people here were making comparisons to.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
