Lazy River Waves

The waves in the lazy river used to be my favorite part of the whole attraction, and many times I will drive past CP just because of the water park. I have been to the park three times this year and all three times the wave action has been missing from the lazy river. I brought this up at Coaster EXT and Bill Spehn essentially replied that it should be working and he would check into why it is not working.

My question is, has anybody been to GL this year and seen the wave action in the lazy river? And if the wave action has been turned off, what is the reason? It seems silly to build an attraction with such a great and unique feature and just scrap the idea on the second year of operation. I just hope that they did not scrap the wave action in favor of selling more annoying innertubes for the wave pool, because that just seems wrong.

Do they shut off once in a while like the waves in the wave pool? Perhaps you just caught them at the wrong time.

No they should be continuous. Must be a big problem since as of July27th They aren't on yet.

I have been in Riptide Run many times this season and not once have I seen the waves operating. Another unique feature MIA are the geysers after the buckets and before the first bridge. I wish they would restore both features into operation again soon.

I love the waves but I hate the different ways they have to dump ice cold water on me. The thing I hate the most is that dumb little dipping bucket on the last bridge before the waterfalls. Stupid little punks getting me wet. ;)

The Renegade (or is it Raging?) river at Soak City has waves in a section.

"Renegade" River has a continuous wave cycle. I had thought Wildwater Kindom's river had the same. But the few times I have been there this season, they have been off.

I went last weekend and the lazy river was working just fine. My only problem was when it got really crowded. There were several people waiting for tubes and people were generally not watching where they were going. Since tubes were in such shortage, I wound up floating on my back about 3/4 of the time around the loop. Got ran in to several times by people just not paying attention.

I like the lazy river at GL. The one thing about lazy rivers is that people need to watch where they are going.

I have not seen the waves on in GL's lazy river at all this season. That was also one of my favorite aspects of the river so it will be interesting to see if the waves get turned back on. I hope they do.

^Well, unless they turned them off after 08/13, then I would think that they are still on.

The last time I went in the lazy river was July so if they were on 8/13 I'd agree they are probably still on.

The must be have randomly been broken down the 4 times I've been there this summer. It is good to hear that at least some people have experienced them this year and they have not been scrapped. Oh well heres to better luck next summer.

No. I go to the park every single week and not once have the waves in Riptide Run operated. It gets a good current and quite the ripple effect from it, but the actual wave machine has NOT worked all summer.

I've been there all summer, so anyone who tries to tell me differently I will shun it because this is one fact I know for sure. The waves have not worked all summer. Bottom line. I was just there yesterday and it was still the same.

Like I said the river does get a little bouncy after making the turn where the waterfalls start to kick in, but the wave maker, which is the large opening in the river tword the back after going under the first bridge has not operated all season.

I'm sorry it's just hard to tell someone that's there every week that something worked when it never did. Also the geysers have not worked either this year.

Thanks for the update GLFnRules, you have pretty much repeated what I said almost four weeks ago. I am also there just about every week and RR has had NO WAVES AND NO GEYSERS all season - period! Now if someone could come up with an explaination that would be helpful.

Just some of the reasons why I miss the old lazy river, now known as the Koi pond.

At coaster EXT last year I sepecifically asked about the waves during the Q+A session. Bill Spehn said that they should be on and that he would check into it. Maybe I will ask again this coming year. All of my favorite parts of the lazy river are mostly gone. Hmmm, I wonder what King's Island's river looks like...
